Relief help??

Relief help??

Postby BRADSANDBOTHE » Sat Mar 25, 2006 3:41 pm

I was wondering how other people would set up this team as far as relief.
This is how I have it set.

Thompson 2-3 inning max slow hook
Riske 2-3 max
King 1-2 max quick hook avoid RHB avoid before 7
Meyers 1-2 max avoid rhb avoid before 8th
Colero 1-2 max avoid LHB avoid before 8th
Ryan IBB less (closer)

They are doing well so far, but I really don't know what is right or wrong. I don't play all that often and don't really know all the combos and stats for what works or doesn't.
Any insight would be helpful.

Well don't tinker much with success--it shows you're matching up well with your opponents, even if I don't like a couple of those settings.

Basically, I'm not sure why you would want your cheapest relievers as set not before the 8th (especially when they don't have C ratings)--I want my most expensive folks coming in when the game's close or on the line late.

The idea of having multiple relievers to choose from that are cheap and one sided is sound, but I would think limiting their innings to the 1-2 as you have, avoiding the weakside, and using quick hook should seal the deal.

Personally I'd get rid of the not before 8th on those cheapies, as it makes it more likely they will be used late.

If that's your intent, I guess that's fine but I wouldn't think that's a good thing, personally.
cheers

I see your point.
I actually was (probably not smart) thinking actually to keep the cheapies out of the game as much as possible and still get use. I figured if they were in there longer, the better chance Hal would get them screwed up and use them against the wrong side.
But I see your point and it is well taken, You are right and I should be using my more expensive guys when the game is on the line.

Thanks for your point of view.
