What a talented group!

One to go. It does appear that somdraft is pffft. Sad. I am open to suggestions regarding how to conduct the draft. Thanks to Rob I have the 70's spreadsheet. I can post it on my old blogspace as an attachment, like we did with the first FATY league standings, but first I want to see if anyone has better ideas. I've even toyed with a live conference call draft, but realize it's hard to get everyone together. As we wait for our last manager I would appreciate getting your feedback, especially those of you (most of you) who are more tech-savvy than me.

So bring forth your suggestions.

Thanks, Paul

Nice job Rapid Robert. Thanks. I'm not seeing a place there to hold the draft, so am thinking about drafting on the Individual League Chat discussion board. Rob, can we summarize each round on your website as it concludes?

Draft Idea

Postby ROBERTLATORRE » Fri Mar 11, 2011 3:48 pm

Paul, how about this since we are having to draft on the discussion board.

each of the 12 managers picks 12 players at a time, 1 player for each team. We could even split up the draft order by position.

Manager 1 - picks the worst 12 SS, 1 for for each team
Manager 2 - worst 12 2B
3 - 12 1B
4 - 12 3B
5 - 12 C
6 - 12 CF
7 - 12 RF
8 - 12 LF
9 - 12 Any Hitter
10 - 12 Any Hitter
11 - 12 Any Hitter
12 - 12 SP
13 - 12 SP
14 - 12 SP
15 - 12 SP
16 - 12 RP
17 - 6 RPs
18 - 6 RPs
19 - 6 Hitters
20 - 6 Hitters
21 - 6 Hitters
22 - 6 Hitters
23 - 6 Hitters
24 - 6 Hitters

This would reduce the number of overall picking turns to 24 instead of 288

I like that idea... Only issue would be how do we keep to the 55- 60 million for those players. what if we did this istead.

do a 2 round draft of the 20 players snake draft
round 1 draft 10 players
round 2 draft remaining 10 players keeping you in your range.

then a live draft of the final 5 players

GGrover's idea is very workable and stays with the concept of being a bad GM for one team. I like it.

I think to make GGrover's proposal fairer, how about a 5 round serpentine draft.

Round 1: 5 bad GM players
Round 2: 5 bad GM players
Round 3: 5 bad GM players
Round 4: 5 bad GM players
Round 5: 5 good GM players

Thoughts?
