Sure - once your drops are "official," you are locked into a set number of draft picks. For example, to use your numbers above:

You drop 15 players and your roster sits at 25 once the drops become official. You now have 15 draft picks.

Any additional draft pick you acquire removes the last pick you currently own in the last round you draft.

So if you have 15 draft picks, one in each of rounds 1 through 15, then acquire an additional 5th round pick - you lost your 15th round pick.

Works back to front like that - you acquire another 4th rounder and you lose your 14th round pick. You get another 1st rounder and you lose your 13th round pick. And so on.

I'm looking to pick up a stud 2B (is there one?) or SS - either active or prospect-type already in the majors (someone like Starlin Castro-type)

I've got 3 first round picks (including the first 2), Casey McGehee, Carlos Ruiz and others.

I'm also in need of a long-term catcher or catching prospect, a dominant closer or impact 1B. But I'm not looking for journeymen or guys that have had one good year.

I'm prepared to pay a lot, but the player has to be worth the price long-term.
