Schedule!!!

Postby Palanion » Fri Mar 18, 2011 4:46 pm

OK, gang,

Here's the schedule to accommodate three vacations and various other conflicts.

Now to March 28: Announce first set of keepers.
March 29 to April 3: Steal Round.
April 4 to April 8: Announce second set of keepers.
April 9 to April 17: Six-round draft. MUST be completed by April 17. I will create a thread in this forum for our draft.
April 18 to May 10: Load your team.
May 16: Opening Day!!

Reminder: We are moving to ATG6, so all new players/cards are affected by their letter grouping. For example, all Mark McGwires are ineligible since he was not active and M hitters are retired. Pedro Martinez is eligible since M pitchers are in the active player pool.

If I understand the rules correctly, we must announce the year we wish on our keepers (but not our steal picks or draft picks). I haven't yet decided on my years, but will post them when I do. Also, I probably will change my stadium from Dunn '20. I plan to announce my park along with the second set of keepers.

Thanks for the chance to join this group for the season,
Rick Hack (hackra) :D

Ted Williams, Hank Greenberg

Postby hackra » Sat Mar 19, 2011 12:38 pm

I can't protect everyone, so....is anyone interested in trading for Ted Williams or Hank Greenberg to use as one of their keepers?

if the rules allow, I would be interested in trading for someone's swipe pick, a draft pick, or a player to be named later (to use as a 2nd round keeper)

8-)

...also a question about the swipe round. Can one do a "double steal" ...is it okay to trade for someone else's swipe pick and therefore get 2 swipes? is it okay to "steal" from yourself .. in other words if I have Ted Williams and no one ahead of my pick swipes him, can I swipe him from myself to protect him?
:?

OK... let's see if I can answer these questions for all.

[b:7ca219acc3]Year of keeper.[/b:7ca219acc3] hackra is correct that the rules state we must announce year with player, but I think we probably decided as a group not to do that, at some point, and I did not document it. So, [b:7ca219acc3]years are not required[/b:7ca219acc3].

[b:7ca219acc3]Trading. [/b:7ca219acc3]Each team is allowed ONE trade that involves keeper(s) between now and the end of the live draft. After the live draft is over, keepers must remain (including the year drafted in the autodraft) on the roster through game 6 of the regular season. No trading for future considerations.

[b:7ca219acc3]Steal round.[/b:7ca219acc3] You cannot steal a player from your own roster with one exception: if you are the 12th team in the round and your team has not been stolen from (which has never happened).

[b:7ca219acc3]Trading AND the steal round. [/b:7ca219acc3]You can trade a steal pick, certainly, and end up with two picks in the steal round. However, you must retain the 7 keeper maximum and the hitter-pitcher ratio. So, if you protect three players and steal two, then you can only protect two more in the second set of keepers.

[b:7ca219acc3]Ballparks. [/b:7ca219acc3]We have all been in the same ballparks since season 18 (at the most recent), thus we can all change ballparks if we so choose. However, keep in mind that to change ballparks you must a)announce the new park with your keepers (first or second set) AND b)use one of your draft picks to obtain the ballpark (you will list the ballpark instead of a player in a draft slot). Conveniently, this means the new ATG6 parks are available to one and all. Keep in mind that [b:7ca219acc3]we use unique parks[/b:7ca219acc3], so they will be first come, first serve. Only when someone announces a change does their previous ballpark become available.
