Postby evanthomas » Tue Mar 22, 2011 9:42 pm

Used the field as moniker, trying something different. We loaded the following, hopefully for their skills and not their consumption ability:

Pitchers-
Pavano
Liriano
Duensing
Baker
Slowey
Enright (trade)
Crain
Guerrier
Capps
Fuentes
Rauch

Catcher-
Mauer
Doumit (draft)

Stoneglove-
Thome
Kubel
Aviles

Injured-
Morneau

Others of various stripes-
Cuddyer
Hudson
Hardy
Valencia
Casilla
Young
Span
Pie (draft, always good to have the antithesis of a walking man)

Thome may have a stone glove...but I'd stick him at ss as a 5e65 if I could.

Re Thome at SS - I agree. WHat an incredible card!

This will be my first 2010 season! I am looking forward to it a lot! Even since the ratings disk came out in January, I have been excited about seeing cards/players in action, like Thome, Bautista and Ortiz against RHP (WOW for all 3 of them, but THome especially!) and Ordonez, Lowrie and Buck vs LHP.

Despite the decrease in runs scored overall in 2010 (as I have heard - I think that is correct), those players - esp. Thome, Bautista and Ortiz - just hit the lights out! It will be fun to watch!!!

By the way, evanthomas, those Twins will be lots of fun to watch! I live in Winnipeg, and I cheer for the Twins (Minnesota is the nearest large city to Winnipeg) as well as for the Jays.

I think you'll really enjoy playing out the Twins!

Living here in the Twin Cities, I feel spoiled to be able to be 30 minutes from Target Field......though tickets for your average fan is very difficult to get. Luckily, I'm not average. 8-)

Anyway, I actually have the "real Twins" in another league. The only thing that slows down Thome is Target Field. So far after 48 games, here are Thome's numbers:

.203 Avg, .295 OBP, .469 SLUG, 14HR, 31 RBIs 68Ks in 177ABs

It really sucks to have a $9M DH batting .203 with a .295OBP. He has spent most of the season batting below the Mendoza line. The jury is still out on him. If he was in Coors or Yankee Stadium, Thome could be an absolute monster though.

Thome after 48 games in Miller Park (including an 0-11 last night)...

172 AB; .326 AVG; .449 OBP; .785 SLUG; 22 HR; 51 RBI; 39 BB; 60 K's

(plus 43 R; 7 2B; 3 3B)

It's amazing he had the year he did playing in the real Target Field. Nothing he did there was cheap.
