How much more value does a S7 have over an S6?

I couldnt give you a quantative answer but...

an R2 vs R1 is more valuable than S6 vs S7

a good R2 can throw 200+ IP if set correctly

R1 150+ IP typically

It is called the super reliever. You get a guy that has a great card with a 2 inning relief. Set him for middle, set up and close. Get yourself a heavy LH slant and heavy RH slant RP and set them for against LH hitters and RH hitters with quick pull. The "super reliever" will pitch at every chance that he gets. HAL will put him in 3 or 4 games in a row. He will be tired but if his card is great the @ before the KO will turn into a single but still better than most cards on the table. You can get up to 200 innings pitched out of this guy.
If you can land a great starter and set him for don't relieve until after F0 you can get your super reliever to go out there until his arm falls off and you make a trip to the mound and screw it back in for even more innings.
It really dosen't fit the real baseball but in this game it works out well.

As far as a S6 or S7 it really only matters if the pitchers card is rolled on the @ and that doesn't happen very often and that is where the splinter answered with that quantive thingy that has to do with math thingys that I can't figure out as DAMIT JIM I AM ONLY A DOCTOR! and WE NEED MORE POWER SCOTTY! Just never be the guy that beams down on the planet that is not a regular on the show as he always dies and dies fast on those planets. I always loved the Butthead guys the best.

[quote:0de18bc2a7="melgibsonfan"]If you have an amazing bullpen, wouldn't you rather have a great S6 go over a good S7?[/quote:0de18bc2a7]

This really isn't a question that can be easily answered here, since it really has to be put in context. The S6/S7 question tells you when it's _possible_ for a SP to get tired, not when he will. So, a $8M S7 will typically pitch MANY more innings than a $2M S7, since getting tired is a function of putting guys on base and having them score. Then you have the strength of your bullpen, the park you play in and it's propensity to give up runs and hits, the DH rule, and your team defense that all plays into it.

But to answer your question, yes, if I build my team around a great bullpen, I typically look for high value S5/S6 type guys--especially if I put a lot of money in R2 middle/setup guys that I would rather have pitching in those middle innings of tight games.

Sure they do, since an S6's F rating starts dropping one full inning earlier than an S7. Over the course of a season, that could be quite a few innings that your reliever won't have to pitch.

But, for the poster, I almost never use that "Don't Rel Before" setting anyway, and I would recommend that it be used with extreme caution. Maybe for your most dominant 8M+ starter, but that's about it, IMO.
