You want to talk about injuries. How about this 17 game stretch:
1. Game 10 - Luis Castillo (15 games)
2. Game 15 - Alcides Escobar (3 games)
3. Game 18 - Jonathan Broxton (5 games)
4. Game 19 - Jeff Fiorentino (remainder of game)
5. Game 20 - Alcides Excobar (5 games)
6. Game 25 - Jose Mijares (1 game)
7. Game 26 - Manny Ramirez (1 game)
8. Game 27 - David Ross (15 games)
9. Game 27 - Jeff Fiorentino (2 games)
About two weeks ago, I had Manny Ramirez and Dave Ross both go down for 10 game injuires. In addition, it seems like in just about every other series I am losing players for 2 or 3 games.
Now for the silver lining: My team is sporting a 83-58 record, has a 13 game lead in my division and is tied for the best record in the league. :P
I guess it's just a matter of time before the wild card team knocks me out of the playoffs in the first round.
In all seriousness, the frequency of injuries seems to have increased. I don't know if it's across the board, however, and this may just be an anomaly. But it is interesting to see that other teams have also been plagued by an unusually high number of injuries.
Hang in there. It's always darkest before the dawn.
