Our Mystery Card games - The '70s Game, Back to the '80s, Back to the '90s

Postby ROBERTLATORRE » Sat Mar 26, 2011 9:42 am

So as I understand it, we are going to play 3 seasons: First, a 70s season, 2nd an 80s season, and 3rd a 90s season. Each owner keeps the same franchises for each season. Is this correct?

[b:955a7ec3ba]YES[/color:955a7ec3ba][/b:955a7ec3ba]

Then the points accumulate for each season and the one with the most points is declared the champion.

[b:955a7ec3ba]YES[/color:955a7ec3ba][/b:955a7ec3ba]

Also, do the 3 seasons take place simultaneously or one after the other?

[b:955a7ec3ba]We will stagger them, but try to get them started as close together as possible. All three will be in play at the same time, just started a few days apart.[/color:955a7ec3ba][/b:955a7ec3ba]

Sorry about my earlier post on this. We hadn't counted them in previous FATY's, but I guess their strong presence in the 90's overshadows their meager presence in the 70's.

Paul, also had to do with the 69 and 86 card set in the other FATYs

FWIW, Seattle Pilots count as Brewers. Washington Senators count as Rangers. Both in the 70's game.

Question on Trading and Sal Cap.

Postby dutchfarley » Sat Mar 26, 2011 5:25 pm

I had a question on trading as well. So if you make a trade are you essentially just trading away the "rights" to a player or do you have to actively have him on your roster and then trade him through the game engine. For example let's say I was in the 90's league and I'm playing Oakland and start the season with Mark Mcgwire on my active team and Jason Giambi still floating in free agency. After a few games I decide Mgwire is my 1st baseman going forward, I've discovered another useable DH and feel I can deal Giambi. Do I need to bring him on my active roster ( and likely take my waiver hit ) to trade him or can I just trade away the rights to him to another team.

I've been in two team theme leagues before but never ones that allowed trading so I'm not exactly sure how it works.

Thanks!

And a follow up question: How will we keep track of trades and who is on what team?

TRADES

Postby ROBERTLATORRE » Sun Mar 27, 2011 7:09 am

You have the rights to all of the players that qualify as a franchise player (according to # of cards/ABs/IPs) even if they don't make your active roster.

If you trade a player, the manager that received him in the trade has the exclusive rights to him from that point forward. Cutting a player does not relinquish the new manager's rights to that player.

Also, you can trade players that you have rights to, even if he is not on your active roster. As long as the trade is communicated here or in the specific league email system, and is confirmed by both managers, it is a binding trade. Once the seasons are running, you can use the regular trade function in the league.
