ATGer stepping into 2010

ATGer stepping into 2010

Postby Treyomo » Mon Mar 21, 2011 11:16 pm

I always like to venture into the current season at least once, but I'm honestly lost. I drafted a $140M team, and after the draft, I think it completely sucks. As you'd expect, there's no pitchers above 3M left, so I'm essentially stuck there. If yo could take a look and let me know where you think the major holes are, I'd appreciate. Somehow I only ended up 5th in waivers. I know I need a couple more RP specialists, but what else do you see? Are any of these OFs even salvageable? Thanks.

Like- Romero, Price,Carpenter,Thornton,Marshall. Kennedy with limited and I mean limited hitter parks in the league.

Play Huff in left Keep Rasmus and Ethier.

Tulo will be great but pick up the best defensive back up at SS or 2nd base. You have the ability to move McDonald to short if need be.

Don't really play the higher salary cap leagues but have to imagine the picking are slim. With the fifth pick maybe you can upgrade at catcher?

Thanks, Claw. I'm hoping to upgrade a Sp spot through trades and improve bullpen depth and upgrade at c and of in waivers, so we'll see.

I think your first mistake was joining a 2010 autodraft with a cap of $140M. There is just enough talent to make $100M interesting in 2010, though $80M is definitely much more intriguing. Just like ATG, 140M caps make the draft so critical. However, since there are about 4,000 cards in ATG and about 1,000 cards in 2010, the disparity between the top tier and lower tiers of players is just not competitive enough.

Also, the average 2010 player will trade LESS than the average ATG player, particularly in 140M drafts, so unfortunately I don't know if you'll be able to improve your team substantially.

Best of luck, and hopefully you can learn a few things about the 2010 set out of this experience.

I am in same boat (and same league) as an ATG player, a little lost in 2010. Your team actually looks pretty good to me ... here's a link to a 200 mil league 45 games in .. compares well as most teams can't reach 140 mil

Aero - yeah, I had the ATG pricing in my head, where $140M still forces you to make decisions and not just select the highest salary guys at every position. It's interesting how much worse the hitters' card are in 2010 than in ATG for the same salary, because the pitchers' cards are so much worse- makes every 2010 hitter look crappy in comparison. :D

I'm guessing this is a 75-80 win team, but we'll give it a crack.

I'll pound lefties, scuffle against righties, give up a lot of leads, and be in a bunch of 9-7 games. After waivers, I still see a 75 win team.
