Splinter,

That's certainly not allowed by the current rules. However, I'd be open to discuss adding it for new managers, provided it only occurs directly after the spring FA draft, so the new manager can't monopolize all the good players before everyone gets a crack at them. As long as it's only usable to turn over a lousy roster, I don't see a real problem with it. What does everyone else think?

I'm working on a deal with Rick for the current pick, so I'm not going to pick just yet...

PACIFICA TRADE with WPW

Postby CaliENGR » Thu Mar 31, 2011 10:32 am

Pacifica trades their 3rd Rd Prospect pick (2011) & their 8th Rd FA pick (2011) for WPWangfuddle's 6th FA pick (#2, 2011) & 7th Rd FA pick (#7 2011).

WPW to confirm.

I confirm the deal with Rick, though it's actually Russ' pick, #2. Rick is on the clock.

I don't think that should be allowed. Dropping and adding players at will is extremely unfair. We are allowed to drop up to 15 players and draft 15 new players with the draft. That is the point of the draft. There should be no need to add/drop after the draft.

not trying to ruffle any feathers..its just that in retrospect I would rather have draft choices than Balfour and Rhodes

NO WAY

I agree with Ray. We've all had to build our teams thru the various drafts that are provided us. There is no way I can see a reason to allow this.

BTW--let me add that this has nothing to do with Splinter & his roster issues but that we have rules that should not be allowed to be relaxed for someone that comes in & takes over a previous member's team. Once we allow this it changes everything.

I wasn't saying that you should be allowed to do it whenever you want, or that it wouldn't require a rule change, just that I didn't see a way that it would be unfair to allow a new member to do so, provided it was done immediately after the draft, when we've all had a chance to pick up the players we want. Would a 16th and 17th round pick for those two relievers upset the competitive balance?

It would DEFINITELY require a rule change, which would require 8 votes, so I'm not sure you're off to a good start.

That said, there are other ways to go about doing this: For instance, you can trade the players you mentioned for late round draft picks. As long as the draft doesn't have more than 15 rounds, you can add as many players as you're able to. Check your PMs, Splinter...
