guys I'm out of pocket until this evening as I have a trade show to work so don't panic or openly weep if my pick isn't instantly made

I really tried to just get the worst player on the board AND come as close to to the 60m figure as possible. These teams are going to be terrible. Almost makes me feel sorry for the major league GM that takes over a terrible team with bloated contracts. They have no shot. If Sandy Alderson can turn the Mets around it would be a miracle! As much as I love my Cubbies, Hendry has really hamstrung the franchise with some terrible contracts. Makes me wish that the Cubs would just start spending money like the Yankees.

[quote:c12063712d]Strategy: it's been the exact opposite of my 1970s Steelers 'best available athlete' approach. I am trying to select the worst value on the board at that moment. I am trying to put together a team and not JAM any GM up by selecting a lot of dead $ at any particular position. To me that wasn't the spirit of this league. Whoever gets my team will likely have to spend $ on a SS (there are so many good ones in the 70s, Ha). [/quote:c12063712d]

Jayhawk, don't misunderstand me. I do not believe I'm missing the spirit. The 'spirit' was to put together the worst team with the equalizing factor being you have to spend $60M-$65M. Every manager is going to be JAM'ed somewhere, strong somewhere, all relative to the other 11 teams. I have also put together a 'team' and haven't OVERallocated to any one position. So if I build weak pitching, there's a take somewhere else. Because of that I believe there will be a lot of trade negotiation as we all try to take the team we end up with and work out of our JAMs.
