A team of all "1s" defensively.

Thanks for posting your ATG teams, guys. What made me think of doing this with the 2009 set was a ATG theme team I had of Indians + NeLers.

This team ended up winning the division and beating the Cubs in the semis and losing to the Pirates in the finals.

In ATG there is an abundance of 1s and it seems every team has 1s up the middle unless they have some offensive stud at one of those positions.

The experimental part in my mind using the 2009 set, is the relative rarity of the 1s and how a team of all 1s would be a significant help to the pitching staff. Didn't really turn out that way with my SPs. I am going to do this again with the 2010 set at some point in the future, once I learn the set a little better. I may look at the possibilities of doing this in 1986 or 1999. I already know its impossible in 1969 - no 1 shortstops.

I'd love to see this provoke others into trying this as well. Thanks for posting those teams guys.

I'm not sure I agree with this flash. In the single season sets - yes. But in ATG I think there are enough slugging 1s that you could build a fairly balanced team at $80M and still do well. The idea is that you can go a little more cheaply in pitching because all those gbX & flyX turn into outs making a lesser pitchers card like closer to the stud pitcher cards.

Now it would also have to done at the lower caps to $60M, 80M maybe 100M but not at 200M or uncapped live drafts. That likely would not work.

[quote:31ad195805="TomSiebert"]Here's a team of all 1's from ATG6, plus it's all guys who played for the Padres at one point in their career. In Petco, no less. Only exception is McCovey, hidden at first base.

Team sucks. Back third of lineup strands a ton of guys. Almost .500 at home, but the road is a b!tch. Any team with power steamrolls us.
