Hometown Sluggers 2 1/2 Team Theme League Rules (this post is up to date rules)

Each owner lists their current place of residence or their hometown. Please list nearest MLB city, vote for $100M or $140M. You will receive that towns franchise (if two, please pick one). After the league is filled, we will hold a one round draft by reverse order of the total salay of your hometown franchise. Each owner will draft one more full franchise. Then each owner will be able to draft another half franchise (pitchers or hitters) from the remaining available teams in the 2nd round. The one wrinkle is in keeping with the hometown theme, the half franchise must be from one the 3 closest franchises in proximity to your home franchise.
Some owners hometowns will most likely overlap somewhat, but if your city is already taken then please list another place you have lived so there are no repeats.
After the draft then on to the autodraft. Owner's can only have players from their draft pool on their cards. Owner's retain the rights to all franchises/players from their original draft pool the entire season and they cannot be picked up as free agents by other owners. Any non drafted franchises' players are not eligible to be picked up as free agents.
All players are eligible to be traded (offline or throught the trade engine) if you are trading a player not currently on your 28 man roster, it must be announce and confirmed in a league message to all owners. Any player traded becomes part of the new owner's draft pool and he/she owns the rights to that player even if the player is dropped from the active roster.
You ask why is it Hometown Slugging League, bc everybody has to use one Stadium.....Coors Field. In honor of the year of the pitcher, we are going to add some instant offense! :wink:

Each owner lists their current place of residence or their hometown. Please list nearest big city (not necessarily an MLB city). Next to the city, vote for $100M or $140M. Depending on the areas listed, I will come up with list of franchises/players that each owner can select from for his autodraft card. Some owners will most likely overlap somewhat, but if your city/region is already taken then please list another place you have lived so there are no repeats. In the case that one owner selects Philadelphia & another chooses Pittsburgh, I will make it even so both owners have a competitive pool of players to pick from, not just Phillies & Pirates. I.E., the Pittsburgh owner may get Cleveleand, Cincinnati, etc.

I think this will be hard to fill because people don't know exactly what they're signing up for in terms of players, and there's no way a $140M cap will be competitive for everyone. The 2010 pool just isn't that deep.

Vote for $100M....it doesn't have to be $140M!!! Sign up Dave. Not knowing what your getting is half the fun......but you kinda have an idea of it. What I will do is say that your hometown city which is chosen will have the rights to that city's franchise (s) for sure and other franchises/players will be added later once all the cities are chosen. How does that work?

why not just have second round draft for teams? (inverted from signup) That way no one can complain about who they get as a second team?

Nice idea but other owners would have to agree. Maybe one round draft by random order since cities selections are hometowns and not in any order preference. After the draft I could add to each teams draft pool with remaining franchises/players based on proximity to each city.
I am adding the 1 round draft to the rules.
