Thank you hackra for alerting me to BobBoone's Minute Maid post; I had forgotten about it (and it disappeared after his steal pick).

Now... I don't understand the ballpark switching in the draft thread...

This is from a post I made March 28 to clarify the ballpark switching process.
[quote:02e8df338c]Ballparks - You must announce that you are changing ballparks during the period when we are selecting keepers. And you are to name the ballpark you intend to relocate to. With roughly 100 ballparks from which to choose, I would like to think that people will get the type of park they want. The reason behind announcing ballparks now is so that you and your opponents can plan for the ballparks when creating your rosters.
In short, if you want to relocate, announce it and the new park as soon as possible so that no one else can take your park. The draft pick is the fee for relocating.
Quote:
... to change ballparks you must a)announce the new park with your keepers (first or second set) AND b)use one of your draft picks to obtain the ballpark (you will list the ballpark instead of a player in a draft slot). ... we use unique parks, so they will be first come, first serve. Only when someone announces a change does their previous ballpark become available.
[/quote:02e8df338c]

So, no one can change parks now. Draft thread is updated to reflect original park announcements.

new ballpark info

Postby Palanion » Mon Apr 11, 2011 1:30 pm

OK... I've reread every post in this thread since the league started up again.

Ballpark movement announcements:
emart moving to League '34, announced March 21, 14:31 (page 133)
bunze0 moving to Bennett '11 announced March 21, 20:21 (page 133)
BobBoone moving to Minute Maid '05 announced March 23, 11:46 (page 133)
13Baseballs moving to Metropolitan '71 announced March 28, 14:09 (page 134)
Munich_Man moving to Griffith '24 announced March 28, 18:41 (page 134)

BobBoone (intentionally?) deleted the ballpark announcement from his keeper list March 30, 12:31 (page 134), still during keepers period. So, assuming this deletion was intentional, then BobBoone remains in Ebbets '20.
The other four ballpark moves are "locked" in.

Draft started on April 2, 23:30. So all ballparks became "locked" at that point.

Let's be gentlemen; if you really want the ballpark someone else has already announced, maybe there's a common ground in talking with that person about giving it up.

[b:df693f89b2]13Baseballs - [/b:df693f89b2]you are looking at the wrong team. You do not have any of those players in SBDL.

[b:df693f89b2]Schedule[/b:df693f89b2]
Now to March 28: Announce first set of keepers.
[b:df693f89b2]March 29[/b:df693f89b2] to April 3: Steal Round.
April 4 to April 8: Announce second set of keepers.
April 9 to April 17: Six-round draft. MUST be completed by April 17. I will create a thread in this forum for our draft.
April 18 to May 10: Load your team.
May 16: Opening Day!!

KEEPERS BY TEAM
1. Palanion - Gwynn, Mathews, Carlton
2. JOEOC - W. Mays, M. Huggins, D.Dean
3. Modmark - Barry Bonds, M. Mantle, J. Morgan
[b:df693f89b2]4. MunichMan - [/b:df693f89b2]
5. Dacelo - R. Hornsby, H. Vaughn, D. Eckersley
[b:df693f89b2]6. 13Baseballs - [/b:df693f89b2]
7. Mr. Baseball World - P. Alexander, H. Wilhelm, Al Simmons

I was under the impression that we could change Stadiums in the event another Manager wanted to give up an announced Stadium pick... BobBoone had already picked Minute Maid when I choose my Stadium... had I known Minute Maid was going to be open, I would have waited.. I contacted BobBoone about Minute Maid and he said it would be OK if I picked that one instead...

OK... after communicating with all parties, the ruling on ballparks for 13Baseballs and BobBoone is this:

BobBoone remains in Ebbets '20.
13Baseballs moves to Minute Maid '05.

BobBoone originally announced Minute Maid '05; however, he later deleted it from his keeper list because of a misunderstanding of the rules. Still, the rule of announcing which ballpark one is moving to has been pretty clear from the outset (see two mentions from me quoted in 13Baseballs's post above about when to announce and that the ballpark name is required). Since he did not announce a different new park, he must remain in his old park for this season (Ebbets '20).

13Baseballs chose Metropolitan '71 after his first choice had already been claimed (Minute Maid). He (like many of us) was unaware that BobBoone later withdrew his ballpark selection of Minute Maid, otherwise 13Baseballs would have changed his ballpark selection from Metro to Minute Maid. It was only after the draft started that 13Baseballs asked BobBoone if the ballpark was available.

In my opinion as commissioner, while 13Baseballs was also unclear about the rules, he had the right to change to Minute Maid during the correct time frame had he known of its availability AND the ballpark is not a dramatic shift in strategy (still a righty-leaning design), so I am allowing this change now.

Moving forward, I will be adjusting the language of the ballpark change rules. The rules won't change, just the wording and one slight modification: instead of using the 6th round pick to also state the park (after announcing during the keeper phase), a manager simply forfeits his 6th round pick in order to relocate.
