1st Time Player: Lineup Evaluation

Postby LADodgers4Life » Wed Apr 20, 2011 5:31 pm

I agree that he is overpriced, but he is cheaper than Pedroia and like we agreed on earlier, there is not really anything on the waivers worth getting at 2B.

The only other option I could do is to drop Phillips in place of somebody else so that I could get 2 more decent relievers but at this point I would rather roll the dice with my bullpen and hope I get Posey and Granderson off the waivers.

If I get those two my lineup would look something like this:

C. Gonzalez
Granderson
Zimmerman
A. Gonzalez
Ramirez
Posey
Hart
Phillips
Pitcher

I could switch Hart and Posey but don't think it's necessary because their cards are pretty similar.

CarGo is not a leadoff option.

He's a #3 or #4 guy vs. RH's.

With this current team,

1. H Ramirez
2. Granderson (not ideal b/c his OB is not high enough, but he's low gBa)
3. CarGo
4. Zim or Hart (Not ideal, but it's all u got)
5. AGoz
6. Posey
7. Hart or Zim
8. Phillips

In the #2 hole, u need a guy who has high OB (40+ OB chances) and low gBa's.
The #3 hole is your best pure hitter.
#4 is your best slugger.

You also wanna construct a lineup with alternating L/R's, when possible.

That is why I am posting on the forums. I am still a little lost on how to construct a lineup, rotation, manager settings. :)

Thanks for all your help.

Here's a discussion on lineup construction. It echoes what socalchiro said above.

I see you have resurrected the Newbie Advice Thread. Nice work. Read through it and then read it again.

Of course I resurrected it and I have it bookmarked. I think my problem is that I do not know how to read the cards effectively yet. I finally figured out how to determine the clutch ratings and the "number system" for the chances on the card and how they are weighted because of that number's probability to come up on the di.

I am just trying to get in as deep as I can and read as much info as I can before my season starts.

OK, one more question:

I want to put as many innings as I can into Contreras and Wilson, obviously because they are my best two pitchers. I have heard a lot of differing views on how to do this so I just wanted to get your opinions.

I remember reading on the forums and one guy said that he would put his best pitcher out of the bullpen (in my case Wilson) as a setup guy and leave the closer field blank. Put him on slow hook and HAL would use him for setup role and keep him in to close the game.

Anyways, my question is how to I funnel as many innings as I can into Wilson and Contreras? Also, should I use Contreras and Wilson as much as possible and use heavy balanced arms 7-9 L & R pitchers as closers?

Thanks again for your help!

Moment of truth tonight at 5 EST. Waivers clear and it will determine the direction of my team.

I'd set Wilson to setup AND close.

Quick hook/avoid bad side on the hard balanced guys.
