Don't feel bad. I don't like the way my team is shaping up so far as well.

Taking Manny in the 3rd round really altered everything for me. I had planned on taking a SP from that set, but was shocked to see him still there so I couldn't resist. What I didn't count on was teams that already picked up stud starters in the farm sets, or set L, jumping into the G set so early. That leaves Danny Jackson as my ace! I also probably took a catcher too early. When I took Hoiles I was fully expecting one of the three relief groups to be still there, plus either the Kruk goup or Jaha. Now I'm taking Nevin early so I can insure myself of having 4 catchers.

Anyway that's what makes these kind of drafts so fun. When you do single player drafts you pretty much know when everyone will go. When you mix them into disparate groups things can get totally unpredictable. I think I'm going to create another theme league soon because these drafts are a blast!

If it's this same group-type theme and it's the 80s, I'm in!

Not much of a fan of the 70s.

This will make the 3rd "name" Theme League I've done. The 70's and 80's were done previously....I got the Johnsons both times! Not sure what the next "theme" will be, but I do like the set/groups thing as it does add some flavor/strategy to the draft. The "straight" drafts were just too predictable. And autodraft leagues can be frustrating/boring. Since the 90's has come out I have not played the other two much, but I like both. I just wish they would expand the 80's player set. I don't understand how so many players got excluded from that set. Aikens can make the 70's set despite one 70's season, and you see a bunch of players make the 90's set with only one season of 100+ ABs, yet you are missing a ton of carryovers from the 70's and guys that started in 86 or 87 in the 80s. Guys that had 3 or more legit 80's seasons.

I was throwing around the idea of a traditional live draft, but with a little twist.
One big live draft covering 3 player sets, each of the 3 mystery card games.
That would be a 78 round live draft which would end up in 25 players and a stadium in each of the 3 sets. You can pick from any of the 3 player sets in any round.

I find this idea really interesting because your splitting your draft among 3 separate sets, and you're bound to have at least one weak team as a result.

The downside is that it's 78 rounds, so it'll really only be for the most dedicated of managers.

Echo...if you do any other theme...count me in! Sign me up whenever you make the initial listing...whatever league...whatever era...count me in!!!

Your themes are great! This one has been a blast to try and draft! I love the mystery games AND this draft with its specific groups...GREAT fun!!!

Thank you for your idea(s) and I wish I would've caught the others... :D

One way to reduce the rounds is to combine the years.

Example the firstbase pool would have all three decks. These would be mixed whereone choice would have a great 70's and a weak 80"s while another would have a great 90's andweak 70's.

I was actually thinking something along these lines. One draft, three seasons. Players would once again be grouped and if you drafted say Eddie Murray you would get all three decades, Nolan Ryan 70's & 80's, Boggs 80's & 90's, etc. Because the players would be mixed together, and some only appear in one decade, it could be very interesting!

Yes I think I'll work on this :D
