You are right that all of us end up with some less than ideal choices or use a player because of other reasons you mention. IMO, low opb, low BA, power hitting players rarely excel in a pitching park enviroment. I have never used Gonzalez, but I actually like him and will definately use him in the future. My worry would be that if he had a good season in a HR park he might hit 30 HR, but he would still have a pretty low obp and BA. I just randomly(honest) pulled these stats for him from the first completed leagues of mine I checked:

It is somewhat close(or less) to what I would expect and I would be happy with that, but if you even reduce his HR's by 1/3, he would be pretty bad and I think you would have better options. I'm sure the options are limited but IMO there must be better options, whether it involves using a "3" rated player, changing something else to get another ss, changing another player or changing no one. I don't think Gonzo at SS is the answer to his problems in a pitching park.
