Why isn't Cliff Lee a SP * ?

Why isn't Cliff Lee a SP * ?

Postby Jimbo123 » Sun Jun 05, 2011 1:39 pm

Cliff Lee pitched 212.1 innings and doesn't tire until reaching his point of weakness in the 8th inning. Nevertheless, he doesn't get a * rating. On the other hand, Wandy Rodriguez only threw 195 innings and reaches his point of weakness in the 6th innings but he gets a * rating. Unfortunately, I don't have either of them on any of my current teams. This was just something that caught me eye and I was wondering if anyone can explain why Lee doesn't get the * rating and Rodriguez does.

It must be the number of starts they actually had in the 2010 season. There can be no other reason that I can think of.

I'm sure it is the number of games started for the season. Wandy had 32 and Cliff only had 28.

I think 30 starts is the qualifier for an asterisk

Yep, Yep. Yep, it's number of starts not innings pitched that decides the *

Actually it a combo of both...

look at Latos...31 GS 185 IP...needed 200+

this happens from time to time....I remember a card(Glavine?) that had 29 starts and just over 200 IP and got a *

there was a post on this a few years back...somebody had a formula that worked 98% or so

And along those same lines, why isn't Halladay an S8? He averaged over 7.5 IP per start last year.

Halladay got screwed, he averaged more IP per game than Cliff Lee.
