Just to clarify for the new players, here are a couple caveats to the rules:

1. Yes, you must start a 4 or worse at every position (except pitcher)
2. Your player can have other ratings on his card less than 4, but your player cannot start or be used as a defensive sub at those positions (i.e. a CF who has a "4" rating may have a 3 rating in RF and LF...but can only play CF).
3. HAL may make some moves out of your control where a player better than a 4 is inserted into the game. Everyone is aware of that.
4. You all must lose at least 2 out of 3 to my team when I play you.

Frank, you aren't far off. Right now, my lifetime record is 31,525-31,241 (.502). The way my 2010 seasons are going, I'm headed for an overall .500 record in a hurry! :cry: :cry:

We don't have enough 4's @ the catcher position for backups.

You may use a 3 rated catcher ONLY as a backup. And they CANNOT come in as a "defensive" replacement.

So to summarize,
Your options are:
1. Grab (2) 4 rated catchers. 1 used everyday, 1 backup OR use them both in a platoon.
2. Grab (1) 4 rated catcher to be used everyday, and then grab a 3 rated catcher to be used as a backup.

In the autodraft, managers will choose the same 4 rated fielder. HAL will give the next available fielder which may be a 1,2, or 3 rated. Are those players replaced in waivers or before season starts?? or both ?? to make the guidelines. :D
