What's with the 12 team leagues?

I'm totally new to all of this. Why on earth are the 12 team leagues so popular?
Is it because those leagues fill up faster?

Isn't anyone here interested in statistical realism? :cry:

The 24 team leagues take forever to fill (it's kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy-they take forever to fill so nobody signs up for them). There are a couple of 24 team leagues waiting to get filled right now, each has 6 I think so will be a while, if ever before they fill. I'm holding a spot in one of them hoping it will fill someday.

As for stat accuracy, most people do care but would rather go ahead and play then wait. The 60-80 Mil salary cap somewhat takes care of having too many stars (except live drafts).

Thanks for the reply. I never even thought of the cap as being a factor. Shows how new at this I really am.

Played Strat for years so at least I know and understand the game engine.

Also, I think in 24 team lgs there are still only 4 playoff teams, TSN really needs to change this. (you get 4 in 12 tm lgs also)

Hopefully the half-full 24-teamer fills. I've played in about 8 leagues so far, and I'm trying out different card sets, and have wanted to get in a 24-teamer for a while. For some reason I love the idea of the 24th best 3B having to start for some team (even if it is mine).

I may be completely offbase, but I'd think the variety of teams will also add interest - SP-heavy teams, lefty teams, poor defense, all bat, etc.

I think most of the reason they aren't as popular is because most of us starting playing on here before they even existed. 24 team leagues were created with the 2009 card set I believe...I haven't even thought of trying one of those yet. I do know that yes only 4 teams make playoffs in both setups but I believe all division winners get a free credit in the 24 team league unlike the 12 team leagues.
