Defensive sub at 1st base?

Postby Larryrickenbacker » Thu Jun 30, 2011 12:01 am

Howdy,

My Astrodome team lacks a back-up for Jeff Burroughs at 1st base. Is it still possible to arrange for a defensive sub for Burroughs in case of a late lead?
For example, I've got Dal Maxvill riding the Pine and chewing on Sunflower seeds; can Maxvill be employed as a defensive sub for Burroughs at 1st?

I would not do it at 1b. The game gets tied and the Maxwell has to hit..ouch

If a player is not carded for a certain position he cannot be set up as a defensive replacement for that position. If you check "remove for defensive substitution" on Burroughs and you have no other 1B rated player HAL could substitute in Maxvill but he would be a 5e25 (or whatever is the worst rating) and you wouldn't want that. That makes Burroughs look like a gold glover.
