Got an idea for a 12 season league

For purposes of this theme, do we consider Mil-Exp as an NL team, which they have been since '98, or an AL team, which they were from '69-'97? Or do we just go on a card by card basis? In other words, I could put T. Higuera's '88 card on my '76-'93 AL team, because that card played in the AL, but the '09 Fielder card would be available to the '94 and up NL owner. :?
Also, am I correct in assuming that, in the case of players with multiple cards spanning two eras, we are confined to only using the cards that are specific to our particular era? In other words, I could not use Ripken's '99 card on my '76-'93 AL squad.

I think you have to look at each card and match the player's team to which league it was in for that given year.

Yes, I believe this was stated earlier. You cannot use a card if it does not fall within your subgroup.

FYI - The 1994-present player groups are very thin. I am starting off with the AL squad and Roberto Alomar is the only 2B, Paul O'Neill and Albert Belle are the only choices in LF, and Joe Mauer and Ivan Rodriguez are the only choices at C. Also, most of the pool is expensive, with only 5 players between $1M and $5.50M.

We could just collapse the post '93 AL + NL team to one league and use the NEL for the other. What say you guys?

I'm fine with either one, though I was kind of looking forward to NOT using the NeLers (just because I've had them as groupings in a lot of leagues like this). As we set up our teams (since we all will get to use each grouping), if we run into problems, we can fix them in this first season.

Nah. I don't think you need to do anything that drastic. Things will probably be ok as is, but if you want to help balance things out even more, I'd suggest an increase the generation to 1990-present. That would flesh out the player pool, particular for the less expensive players.

Or we could just let the post 93 folks poach from the previous team after it is finished with all it's picks. Kind of to keep continuity of the theme.

I think letting them poach from other teams for reserves is the best way to go. I will say, after building my team, the reserves from the 1940 -57 NL are terrible. The Brooklyn teams from the era are stacked though.

not a big problem, but another FYI---only a handful of 1922-1939 parks, but 1940-1957 has a plethora of them
