Thick as Thieves league

*100M (or 120M if you prefer, we can vote)
* DH/no DH (league vote)
* No trades, you may expand your team to 28 guys during waivers, and then you may make ONE free agent pick up during the season. Basically, the draft and it’s steals ARE your team.
* Unique stadiums which will be drafted in the last 2 rounds of the draft.
* 3 hour clock will be used, send proxies if needed for picks.
* Draft here on the forum.
* Draft Order determined by Randomizer.
* Divisions will be normal distribution by draft spots (1,4,7,10 in east, etc…)

On to how the draft will work. There will be 4 rounds of regular serpentine draft followed by a 5th round in which you steal a player from someone else’s team. Each owner can only have one player taken from them, so once someone loses a guy, they can’t lose any more during that “steal round”. You MUST steal a player if you can. It is possible that you are not able to steal a player (ex. You are the last player to get to steal a guy and all teams but you have already been picked from). In this case you just stay pat and we move on to the next 4 rounds of regular draft. This continues with 4 rounds of picking, followed by 1 round of Thievery until round 30. After round 30, everyone will have 24 players. There will be 2 final rounds (to fill out your 25th guy and fix whatever was stolen from you in round 30) and to pick a stadium. You don’t have to pick a guy then a stadium in these two rounds, you could choose to pick your stadium in round 31 and a guy in the final round.

*Thievery Rule #1---you may only steal a player during a steal round (5,10,15,20,25,30) and it must come from the previous 4 rounds. In other words, when we steal in round 10, you can only steal a guy from rounds 6-9.

*Thievery Rule #2---Once a guy is stolen from a team, he can’t be stolen again. This will help with keeping the draft a little more organized.

If you think of anything else, ask and we’ll address it prior to the draft. Remember to put Dh/no dh next to your name and 100/120 M cap. I won’t vote so we have a majority.

I am off for all of July, so if we can get 12 soon, and get it going, I can really help keeping it moving (and proxies will help too). My only need for running it, is if someone could create a googledocs spreadsheet that all members of the league could update/edit to have an ongoing look at the rosters.

franky suggested putting it on diamonddope, which would be cool, but with the thievery aspect, I don't know how to do it. Because of people stealing players, you wouldn't be able to see your real team. BUT....if someone can figure out how to make that work, then Franky is right....it would go quicker/easier on Adrian's site.

but if that's not possible, I'm cool with doing it on the boards and being the guy that keeps it updated/moving. I'm even cool with taking emails/texts as I did that for a recent 2010 keeper draft and it moved much quicker.

This is one of the best ideas for a league I've ever seen, Paul. Hilarious!

apparently not that great of an idea, eh? only 4 people showing interest.

maybe I'll try it with a diff. set. Just thought it would work great with a single-year set.....and I really like the group of guys who play the '69 set.

oh well.

Thanks for trying, Paul - this only reflects an ongoing issue with sign-ups in the '69 format. The idea was a good one. We used to be able to fill just about any format in '69 in a couple days, but lately it has been slim pickings.

Hopefully this fall, when some of the "old guard" gets some time freed up, we can fill a few more.

well, if Gordie signs up we'll be at 5. Maybe we can find a few more in some of the other '69 leagues we've been in. I'll reach out to a few guys if you guys would too that would help.

thanks,

Paul
