This statement says a lot about why I like to trade or more accurately why I like to talk trade. I have had some discussions with Salty where we went back and forth a great deal tossing ideas and thoughts and offers back and forth. But you gotta be willing to talk and accept that along the way offers are going to go both ways that are not totally acceptable. But when you arrive at that point where you get a deal that helps both teams there is a satisfaction that I like.
Something about this thread struck me wrong from the time I saw it and just a few minutes ago realized what it was. The people running here and posting every trade that is not totally to their liking reminds me of the spoiled little brat that did not get their way. Mommy, mommy, they write on the boards with little tears in their eyes, so and so made a trade offer I didn't like. :cry: Wah Wah Wah. :lol: No counter offer and no discussion of relative opinions on the players involved. The above give and take that make discussing trades so much fun is replaced with whining.

I think the thread is at least as stupid as a stupid trade offer.

First stupid is harsh but seriously each of these has no context for the team makeups, league makeups, the records, etc. The environment makes a HUGE difference.
EVERY SINGLE TRADE OFFERED is based on perceived advantage by the offeror. Have been playing this online since 03ish, less than many especially in ATG, and I'd say it's much more common that vets have used lopsided predatory tactics rather than whats posted here. And it's the subleties based on experience in those cases--But of course rookies wont be posting that because in many cases they dont know.
There's a reject button, there's ignore, delete etc. And hey to Valen's post--I'll take Tim Keefe every time. I like players like that--the ones abandoned by managers who simply pick players by sorting on their real-life stats. Love that.
Anyways, we probably all agree we hardly ever trade because it's too much of a hassle with the cap.

Current league where I have ridden Tim Keefe to the playoffs:
24-11, 4.38 (wins leader, 8.71M)
And Maddux on a sub .500 team in my division:
21-16, 3.53 (11.3M)
See what I mean? My point is what's the point? Meaningless without context. Just turns into a flame thread for no reason really. Why not ask the person directly what they were thinking if it's that heinous.
I have played a while but never at high volume, and if I had a playoff rate half the statistical expectation of 33% in ATG6, I would probably rethink my perception of value.
And just like you said, didn't mean this as a flaming arrow. :)
I give up Greg Maddux. He gives me Tim Keefe and his worst reliever, Franco, who I clearly don't need. I sent several counters, including an offer of giving him Otto Hess for the cheap Pedro.
