The unbearable lightness of trading...

well the wild card is that I'm a jerk and get on the boards only semi-regularly
Other than that, I guess it was on track.

[quote:ae6c00e9c9="N Texas Widowmakers"][quote:ae6c00e9c9="dharmabums"][quote:ae6c00e9c9="nevdully's"]You give up:
Mays, Willie (1954) ($10,830,000)

Other team gives up:
Arroyo, Luis (1961) ($4,360,000)
Selkirk, George (1939) ($6,860,000)[/quote:ae6c00e9c9]

sigh

What is the thought process?[/quote:ae6c00e9c9]

Ask Salt ! lol[/quote:ae6c00e9c9]

Well, since you asked:
I'm guessing the manager who sent this wants to get a TOP player for 2 guys who don't perform well in a 200 or Live league, and since the 'salaries' match...

Of course, he could have just 'politely declined', but as I have postualted, what if N wasn't an experienced manager who said yes to this deal?

I've seen that happen quite frequently- how bout if you were in the same division with the guy who just picked up Mays on the cheap, and you are already struggling to compete with his team?

[quote:309d3f42d6="El-Saltman"]ahhh the assumptions:

I think I'm going back to 'drawing conclusions' class.
Almost as bad as the thread

PS- its super nice when people actually read the opening of the thread.[/quote:309d3f42d6]

Drawing conclusions and assumptions both require thinking.

[quote:13835a5706]and his worst reliever, Franco[/quote:13835a5706]
Worth noting that I consider Franco to be the best LH specialist in the set, if not the best LH RP-only in the set. Rather than being the worst reliever it was the best. One thing to criticize someone, quite another to outright lie as you try to destroy their reputation.

And even if there were better relievers on the roster that does not change the value of what is offered or the results on the card. Best or worst on roster Franco still has absolutely nothing on left side of his card. How many pitcher cards can you say that about?

Valen, apparently, read the thread from the beginning and you will be enlightened. I tried, but the light never came on. Dark Age Charlie here, as I still liked the Keefe trade.

I was about to buy a lightbulb, but knowing me, it'd probably shine the light in just the wrong spot.

Oh boy...I let some bad ones slide to let this thread die but then.........

You give up:
Rodriguez, Ivan (1999) ($6,590,000)
Larkin, Barry (1999) ($5,120,000)
Brett, George (1980) ($10,930,000)
Brown, Three Finger (1908) ($10,390,000)
Young, Cy (1901) ($9,150,000)

Other team gives up:
Mauer, Joe (2009) ($9,530,000)
Boudreau, Lou (1948) ($9,910,000)
Marquard, Rube (1913) ($8,210,000)
Nichols, Kid (1904) ($8,060,000)
Pennington, Superman (NeL) ($6,800,000)

Message:

Yes Mauer and Boudreau are upgrades over Pudge and Larkin (although Mauer ain't much of an upgrade over Pudge (imo) and for that privilege I can trade Brett, 3 Finger Brown and Cy Young for some crap

just silly lol
