Guys,

After a fast start I seem to be fading.

Any advise?

Thanx,
Chris

Bad link. You need to add the ID at the end. My computer doesn't provide that for me.

Stop dropping players- well after you drop your 5th SP for a .50MM guy. And use that money to get a better 2B- pref. one with a 1 or 2 def.

Are you stealing aggressively? If so, back off to normal.

OK, I am in your division, so I am just going to give general advise for now.

You don't need 5 * SPs. 4 and a .50 guy is sufficient. Your bullpen seems solid, I would consider going aggressive on your relief usage settings (either that, or go with quick hook on all starters except Schilling). Once the bullpen gets even more innings in, if you notice the stats getting worse, then change it back. Whatever you do, try to get Spradlin as many innings as possible. I can't fathom how you can have anything but his 98 season with the start he has gotten off to.
Also, you want to try to get your roster down to 24 players. I would definitely trim down that bullpen by dropping at least 1 guy (tough choice) and maybe a hitter to get down to 11 and 13 (like my team) or another pitcher to get down to 10 and 14.
You can hold on to the extra cash until the right opportunity comes along, or spend it right away to try and upgrade immediately.
Your biggest holes offensively (2B and SS) are unfortunately the hardest to replace, especially once the season starts.
Overall the team is solid, but the division is going to be very competitive. One thing you do not want to do is panic and make hasty moves that you probably shouldn't have made. However, the longer you wait the more guys get picked off the FA wire so your options become more and more limited. Knowing what to do and when to do it comes with experience.

I stated earlier that I am in your division, but I can assure you that I am not purposely giving any misleading information. If you follow some of my advice and it doesn't work out for you, then it's pure coincidence.

If you have any additional questions regarding the team or the mystery game in general, feel free to message me privately using the leagues message system or send me a PM through the profile page. I will try my best to help.

In the future, it's best to post this in the mystery card forum. Not everyone here plays the mystery game so may unintentionally give misleading advice.
Here's hoping the division stays competitive, and good luck the rest of the way.

Sometimes the easiest way to see your weaknesses is to look at the team stats. You are 1st in pitching and 10th in offense, which is not an unusual split for being in the Astrodome. However, you are the runaway leader in errors which hurts your greatest strength, your pitching. I'm sure some of the defensive issues are an attempt to get some offense. One of Barberie and Duncan would be better suited as DH as they have made almost half your errors. It looks like you have the Big Units bad season(which needs to be cut) and Mesa isn't really doing much for you. I see you picked up A Fernandez. Five of your next six series are on the road. I would cut Big Unit and maybe Mesa(your pen is solid and cheap, which is good) and test some offensive players to fill your holes on this long road swing. You have a lot of guys with big platoon splits. Try to improve the weak side of the platoons as there are a lot of cheap platoon players and this gives you some wiggle room. Cather is an obvious one as it's a lot to pay for a guy who does not hit righties(ditto Jordon). I know I have a good offense in that league and I have cut at least one good hitter in a desperate attempt to get some pitching. The stealing is a minor thing IMO compared to the offense and defense, but you don't just want to steal, you want to steal successfully and your sub-70% is too low.
I agree your team is solid, but the division is tough and "solid" teams need to get lucky to win. Hopefully, you will get lucky with some of the tweaks and take it to the next level. A small pickup can make a big difference.
