And we're up. I'm very sorry for the downtime and especially that I couldn't adequately fill you in on what was going on. There is an off-site page where I can communicate with you in the event of a problem with our front-end or database servers, but since today's problem was network-related, I couldn't even direct you there.

The Strat-O-Matic Online game site looks to be back in working order; if you experience any further problems, please let us know by using the Help->Contact Us link in the game, or emailing stratomatic@sportingnews.com.

Now that forums are back up, let me post this quick notice.

This afternoon our main office was hit by a big network problem which knocked all of SportingNews.com out of commission all of a sudden. Since it was a network-related issue, I couldn't even get in to post any messages alerting you to what was going on.

As I write this, Strat-O-Matic Online the game is still inaccessible. I was told that it would be up soon but that was over an hour ago so I'm trying to follow up. The forums being up is a good sign, but I'm waiting to hear another update on the game.

Stay tuned; I'll keep you as updated as I can.

[i:6ccd2ab7e6]Edit:[/i:6ccd2ab7e6] I definitely didn't expect this outage to last this long, but apparently something is tripping up the last stage of the restoration. The forums and game database are up, but something network-related is not letting you see our front-end game servers.

If this situation persists too far into tonight - Hal forbid - I'll have to make the decision whether or not to postpone tonight's games. I know there's brand new leagues starting tonight as well as playoffs, so I want to make sure you have enough time to prepare. More updates as I have them.

Nightmare with the playoffs starting tonight and my changes not in...hope it gets up in time. Thanks for giving us some info!

There is one already (http://somonline.wikia.com/wiki/SOM_Online_Announcements) but nobody really knows about it. I've added it to our standard error page that you see when a server, front-end or database, is down, but since this is a network issue, we can't even show you that error page.

This should teach me not to wait until Monday to setup my teams that are in the playoffs or starting the season......... :shock:
