New: Game Replay - watch any past game unfold play-by-play!

Postby Mr Baseball World » Tue Aug 02, 2011 11:51 pm

I actually enjoyed my first one. It was a 2010 playoff game and avoided seeing the results before "watching". Was ready to beat HAL senseless when he pulled my SP Francisco Liriano in the fifth inning. Was trailing 1-0(only run scored was unearned run in 4th), after getting first batter out, walked the next and was pulled. Only gave up one hit and three walks in the game.

All is well that ends well though as Prince Fielder hit a 2 run homer in the bottom of the ninth to make it 2-2 and Chris Young hit a HR to lead off the 10th for the 3-2 win.

Very nice! But I found a bug. Game 109 for the Motown Miracles in "#7 14 League Franchise..." In the bottom of the 8th, Tom Henke came in because the previous reliever (Wilhelm) was on "quick hook" and the replay gadget didn't recognize the (quick hook) in the line and failed to register the pitching change.

No matter how much you try to tell them to hit the head someone always drinks way too much liquid, waits way too long to piss and then they moan :!:

I love it.

I have found a way to bypass the scores while watching the taped action. I put my hand (and arm) on the left side where the scores are and just click on the binoculars. You might also try a dark piece of paper to shield your eyes from the scores. I find that if I keep my eyes fixed on the left side of the page I don't see either the headline captions on middle-top nor the divisional standings at the right top.

But I'm talented that way. I'm amphibeus.

There is an alternate way to view the game replay without knowing the results ahead of time.
Each game has a unique URL, just like the boxscores.
For example, this is the URL to the first game my 90s team played tonight.

http://fantasygames.sportingnews.com/stratomatic/league/game_replay.html?group_id=138671&g_id=527

the id=527 is the game number. The second game my team played has the same URL, but with the ID changed to 533. In other words:

http://fantasygames.sportingnews.com/stratomatic/league/game_replay.html?group_id=138671&g_id=533

Thats 6 higher than the last (12 teams = 6 games), so naturally, the URL for the 3rd game will be 539.

Now this won't help me for tonights games, but it will help for tomorrow, and each day afterward.
Each team in my league has played 90 games. That's 540 total games played so far this season.

So, in my case, if I entered the URL: http://fantasygames.sportingnews.com/stratomatic/league/game_replay.html?group_id=138671&g_id=541
I wont get anything (blank page) because that game hasn't played... yet.

Tomorrow, after the games have played, that will be a valid URL and there will be a game there. So instead of visiting the league homepage, I'll plug in that URL. If it's still a blank page, the league hasn't run yet. If it's got a game in it, the league has run.
Game 541 may not be the game my team played. If it's not, I'll just keep adding 1 to the ID until I find my teams first game. Once I do that, I can watch the game without having seen the scores in advance. Then just add +6 to the ID to view game #2, then the same again to view game #3.

For example, lets say tomorrow my teams first game is at:
http://fantasygames.sportingnews.com/stratomatic/league/game_replay.html?group_id=138671&g_id=544

That means the URL for the other 2 games will be at:
http://fantasygames.sportingnews.com/stratomatic/league/game_replay.html?group_id=138671&g_id=550
and
http://fantasygames.sportingnews.com/stratomatic/league/game_replay.html?group_id=138671&g_id=556

So I can watch the games without ever visiting the homepage and seeing the results ahead of time.

It's a lot of work, but it'll suffice until a more permanent solution is put into place.
