Since this is All-Time Greats, we need the same for commercials. I nominate Falstaff's Old Pro.

Nice feature Bernie. Thank you.

First game I watched

Postby coyote303 » Wed Aug 03, 2011 11:55 pm

Tuesday night, I launched a game, managing not to see the result in advance. I was really enjoying it as my team got to a nice, early 6-run lead with my star starter pitching a shutout through 6.

Then bottom of the 7th, he gives up a 3-run homer. No problem. My stud set-up man comes in and quickly gets the last two outs of the inning. But the next inning, he gives up back-to-back homeruns.

No problem. My super-stud middleman/backup-setup man (1.10 ERA after 130 games) will put out the fire. Oops. He gives up a single. HAL immediately calls for my closer who is the leading vote getter for both Cy Young and Rolaids Fireman.

Single. Single and error, two runs score. Arghhh! I lose game 7-6.

My team won big in the two games I didn't watch. I didn't watch tonight, and my team swept. I'm trying not to be superstitious here, but I'm not sure when I'll watch my next game either!

[quote:d24505c6be="River Field View"]I have a complaint.

[quote="wavygravy2k]Another alternative is to use my GameChannel script http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/37182 that will hide stuff on the Front office page but doesn't help much if you go to the Your Account page./quote]

This makes most of the GameChannel obsolete. GameChannel still
has the fatigue ratings, hides the scores, counts the pitcher/hitter's
roll. But it doesn't have a scrolling log, the speed control, etc.

Game Channel was my favorite script, too.[/quote:d24505c6be]

I use Wavy's GameChannel script at times as well. It is a very good script. Unfortunately, as has been stated, it'll likely be made obsolete. =(

While we're on the topic of Wavy's geasemonkey scripts. I don't know how I ever got by without the card chances script (for the mystery games and the main site games)! I've gotten so used to using it, I had forgotten it's not part of the actual game until just now.

Thank You

Excellent addition Bernie -- I've been hoping for something like this for a long time.

One thing that would improve it 200% for me would be the ability to click on a button (or hit the Enter key) and have the action advance just one play at a time. I can do this in the SOM computer game and it keeps me sane. Sometimes I like to fire through the batters rapidly, and then at other times I like to pause between batters when the action is close.

This ability would be the ultimate for me.

Add in the ability to hide the results and I'd have it all...

Thanks,
Jim

This is a nice addition. I'm sure it took a lot of work and it'll improve the fun of gameplay for a lot of people.

That being said, some of us have been enjoying this feature for a few years now, thanks to WavyGravy's Firefox script. His work clearly played a role in the development of this new addition and I think it's only right that he get some proper due for his contribution. I mean let's be clear, someone already did the heavy lifting here.

OMG

My first game watching this feature without knowing the results turns out to be a ninth inning comeback (1986 season) where Dick Schofield hit a game-tying HR (terrible vs Righties) off of a good RHSP, Oil Can Boyd.

Of course then the visiting team goes ahead in the 11th and my team then scores two to win it after the first two hitters made out in the inning. And this was off Righetti. All of this from a singles and doubles lineup in a pitcher's park. It literally could not have gone any better for my first time watching without knowing the score beforehand. Wow. I felt like jumping up and down. Wore me out!

How about some dice rolling on the screen to show the roll?

I'm sure this will be tweaked as we go on, but it's a great start. Really cool option. I rarely used the Wavy script, so can't compare, lol, but I was interested in it.

One thing: It'd be nice to see the lineups at the beginning of the game 8-)

why not just go to live play where you can manage? what if sports has it? watching a game unfold and not being able to do anything about is masochistic.
