Well folks. Thanks for all the input earlier. I have now officially completed my very first autodraft. So glad I asked questions first...
I played the 90's mystery card game, which I know adds a level of complexity. Now I am off to figure that part out next... Is there a mystery card board somewhere?
At any rate, I must either be the best drafter ever or the worst since I got 23 out of the 25 players that I wanted in the draft. I'm thinking it must be the latter :shock:
I missed out on John Franco (Lefty-1.86 mil), my 3rd best reliever. I got Jeff Reardon instead (Righty-1.79 mil).
I also missed out on R Wilkins (Left hitter-2.81 mil), my catcher. I got Mike Lieberthal instead (Right hitter-2.71 mil).
I only have $170,000 remaining now since I got everyone I wanted. It seems like I should have more than that in reserve for a long season. I am considering letting Reardon go to pick up a lefty like I orginally wanted as my 3rd best reliever. Any thoughts on that?
Anyway, let me know what you think, best or worst (or anywhere in between :) . Any recommendations for improvement would be appreciated. I went with a 40 mil pitching and 40 mil hitting strategy. For good or bad, we'll see how that works out.

I looked at your team for 8 seconds and here is what I see. You spent way too much on SP for the park you play in. It took me 4 seconds to check out the park you play in. When you play in a pitchers park high priced pitchers are not needed. You want high batting average, OBP hitters that can steal bases and play small ball. I believe you will get killed, sorry.
I hope you get these guys best cards as you will be needing them.
I hope you get some help from those that play the 90's game [b:e424b0c1f0]HELP HIM 90's GUYS[/b:e424b0c1f0]. Just looking at your line up tells me that you only have 8 guys that can start in your batting order and everyone else is under 1mil. Even with that I don't see many runs for you. I would dump 2 of your SP or ECK as you will not be needing both SP and Closer when you have both that are very good. Your SP will complete so many games that ECK will grow mold sitting on the bench. That is 7mil that could get you better offense of keep ECK and drop 2 SP and put 10mil in your batting order.
Take a look at what you have and the park you play in. Do you really have enough bat or will you need to shutout those steriod injecting monsters to win the game? Look at the other parks in your division and if they are hitters parks you will need to shut them out to win.
I am sure that you will get help from those that play the 90's game. Even the ones in your division will help you. Email the teams in your league and ask for advice. They will help you as they want you to suceed and play more teams in the 90's league as they love that league and want more players for more leagues. I promise you they do!

Sp's-Schilling and Brown are good. I would downgrade Glavine and Key for cheaper and use the $$$ for hitters. Gullickson is a good pick. I would take a shot with him early in the Dome to see if you can get lucky and get one of his good years. Starting him at home will neutralize some of the bombs he gives up if you catch one of the bad years. It's tough to win with that much $$$ spent on pitching. You'll have to get very lucky with you hiiters even assuming you get the good pitching years. Some cheaper * pitchers to look for(but are probably gone) are Drabek, Swindell and Kile. Others that are OK are Morgan, Hamilton and Fassero. Again, the Dome gives you the luxury of limiting the risk of testing out high risk/high reward guys like Nomo and Park(or cheaper). These are guys who walk a lot of guys and give up the HR in a few of their bad years, which will be limited in the Dome and you could catch their dominant good year.
RP-Eck of course is top of the line. Downside is the cost. If you can manage the cost he is a keeper. More than a few cheaper closers have Eck type seasons for a couple of years on their cards. A guy you might want to give a try in the Dome is Benitez, as he's cheap, has some real good years and his weakness is #HR's and walks, both of which are less of a problem in the Dome. Thanks for the tips. I think I'm going to try and drop the two SPs as you've suggest to bolster the batting.

Thanks again for the tips. If only they didn't limit you to 8 waiver selections. I will have to insure that I fill my highest priorities this first go around for waivers. After that I will start to address some of the other minor areas. Unfortunately, I will have to take the 5% hit on some of those smaller drop suggestions you've made since I won't be able to do it all the first week.

You can make as many moves as you want after waivers but before the season starts so you will be able to make all moves without the 5% hit.
