As unlikely as normalization is, it is at least remotely conceivable. On the other hand I suppose one could argue that there were multiple lone gunman, but none more important than the driver of Kennedy's limo who splattered JFK's brains outside the back of his head with the kill shot. :x

The first shot hits him in the back of the head but the second shot fired by the SS limo driver can be clearly seen in slo mo on frame 320. That's when Jackie tries to get away by crawling on to the back of the limo. With the first shot she just solicitously attended her husband, but the second one made her fear for her own life.

I think djmach is right..I remember a thread awhile back that normalization applied to individual cards but not to teams? There is also the home field advantage feature that Bernie said was on which may further slowdown teams that are off to blistering starts...or it just may be regression to the mean at work

also, if you look at the team djmach, none of the players posted spectacular stats, but the team looks consistent from top to bottom. Maybe a balanced approach to team building, instead of a stars & scrubs lineup, is more conducive to 100+ winning teams?

Much like looking into the eyes of Medusa causes you to turn to stone, mentioning the possibility of normalization on these boards results in a punishment all its own...

Since I posted my comments from the other day, my team has continued its downfall, even more dramatically than before. A sparkling 4-11 record in its last 15 games... lost 5 series in a row w/3 of them on my home turf.

I'm going to quit complaining or my team won't make the playoffs.... :cry:

Check out Walter Johnson from the league Petrosian posted. 4.30 ERA with 54 HR allowed in 345 innings. This is realistic?

About as realistic as Bonds hitting 100 HR. Or the HR totals for Maris, Kiner, Banks, etc. Yeah, these pitchers are facing ridiculous lineups but those lineups are supposedly facing ridiculous pitching.

The PED fueled game may have been Selig's answer to the NFL but its NOT baseball!!!

I think Strat made the ballpark effects larger than they should be. Perfect example, look up the '71 Mets pitching staff in Baseball Reference and compare their homer totals to the league avg. for pitchers. Then check out Seaver and the ballpark effects for '71 Shea. No way he should have all those #'s on his card vs. righties.

The smaller the cap the more realistic the stats in ATG.

Remember the cards were designed to replicate performance in specific seasons against the team faced that season. Doesn't always translate well to ATG.
