Going all in on cdrom

Postby Valen » Fri Aug 26, 2011 3:04 pm

Getting back in the cdrom game. Been years since I played the computer version.

Ordered the current version/season and enough seasons to get me the 20 disc discount. Over the next few months I plan to buy another 20 seasons at a time until I have all the seasons.

Total cost with discounts is estimated at just under $1783.41
or to express in online terms 18 5-packs
or to express in Nev terms about weeks worth of teams. :D

Valen,

I ordered a little over 500 bucks worth a few months ago. Lotsa fun, and there's lotsa great cards we don't have. Most of the seasons I got were old seasons, pre WWII and older.

My machine is a Vista machine. I plan on building a Win7 or Win2008 machine some time this fall. That means I will have to play the authorization removal game. :(

Now a queston for those who already have it.

I have the CD now. It is installed.

When I click to install rosters for every season there is ...

All Star Game
Deluxe Season Rosters,*PHC*
and
Deluxe Season Rosters, Setup for AS PLAYED,*PHC*
except for the 1876-1899 seasons which are all ...
Season Rosters, AS PLAYED,*PHC*
World Series

What is the difference? Which should I be installing?

Deluxe season as played. If you play the schedule as loaded, it will use the lineups and starting pitchers as were used in the original games.

Pretty cool if you want to try to reply the seasons.

I have about 50 seasons worth of the CD rom game..it is great fun..you can start from the 1876 season...i'm liberal with PA's and IP's so i use a number of stud's not used with the matching TSN SOM seasons.

Valen for my own preference i just download the deluxe season rosters WITHOUT the "as played"..i think your season will be locked in, game schedule, pitching rotation, and lineup to follow exactly as it was played with "as played"..

baseball-reference.com is a great tool to use when looking for intense actual season statistical background information on the teams and players. I've set up leagues (12 team leagues) based on the 300 best single season team winning percentages in major league history (includes the teams from the 1800's)

Agree!
Hate putting nasty inefficient windows code on my mac, even with dual boot up--it just makes it dirty!

native OS X apps are so much cleaner and leaner...and with an SSD they fly

No Doubt. I'd buy the cd's in a second if there were a Mac version.
