Bullpen THREE!

I love you Charlie but there is still absolutely no way in hell that 12 runs on TWENTY hits for 8 innings makes any sense under any circumstance.

"Real Reliever" should have Nothing to do with anything.

C'mon lets be accurate...Quick hook and avoid does not necessarily mean face only one batter.

BUT and more importantly...

Paige and Brown are not avoid anyone....4 sps are listed in my rotation so under NO circumstance should HAL see them as anything but almost 20m worth of RPs

Percival avoid L but not quick hook or inning limitation

McClure avoid R but not quick hook or inning limitation

Only Honeycut is limited by avoid R max 1-2 not before 8th

Keefe was not tired, even though he was getting hit hard.

The advanced rules account for pitch counts to determine how tired a pitcher gets. Keefe probably started the game with a number of 140+ pitches to throw before he gets tired.

The only thing that would make a pitcher tired before the 140ish mark is giving up 5 runs in one inning, 6 in two, or 7 in three. Keefe never hit those tiring marks. The hit that actually accounted for his lost fatigue was the third consecutive homer in the 9th.

I believe his hits allowed were not due to pitching fatigue.

Normalization is a different problem all together. In the board game, the max rules have a default setting of "correct board game excesses" --- this needs to be unchecked in this online game, otherwise HAL tries to get things to be "realistic" - i would prefer a full season where every throw depended on the odds reflected on the cards, not manipulated in any way. It seems the results are being manipulated because of this board game excess rule is checked. in fact, there are lots of manipulative little rules to "improve accuracy" -- out distribution, robbing home runs. I would like to see the only variable be the throw of the dice without manipulation.

Yup.

Might be better, might not, but let's give this a try.

Also "Quick hook" should having little or nothing to do with fatigue but whether or not a pitcher is getting rocked.

From the cd-rom--

"[b:f29d6d6a09]Quick/slow hook - A quick hook means you'll have less patience with this pitcher when he gets into trouble. A slow hook means you're willing to stick with him longer. Typically you might want to quick hook the lousy pitchers on your team and slow hook your ace[/b:f29d6d6a09]."

This is exactly what we've been talking about-
and I am breathing a sigh of relief to confirm that its actually in the CD-ROM and not a figment of my imagination.

I'd really like to see what its like to have the actual results as such.
Would be happy to participate in a trial league or somesuch.

PS- New Cards, anyone????

What I was trying to say and not express well is I think the code looks at true relievers for the sense of pulling a starter and only when it tries to apply your settings does it go to the starters for a reliever, or else sometimes in a very long extra inning game. And I think that is because HAL has to look at the forward schedule. I think the code would have to be changed to give HAL a list of here are the relievers available for this at the start of a game:
Percival
McClure
Honeycut
Brown
Paige

I don't think it is coded to do this.

Not coded to follow instructions that are clear is just another example of us not getting what we've paid for.

Just curious-
But i remember reading a thread that said the Normalization, or whatever the term is was turned off.

Why do we believe this is the case?

Or do we?

In my opinion, I see the game behaving exactly as one would expect with certain 'realistic' switches thrown on- but what do I know?

Nev, I realize you play a lot of leagues. And you're a very good player.

But tell me, please. When your opponent's manager goes berserk and hands you a game, do you send them a note of condolence?

Inquiring minds want to know.
