NLD 28 - The Legend Continues

Postby joethejet » Wed Aug 24, 2011 11:46 pm

Big sweep for the Burgundy tonight to keep us at least in it. Three back of the division and the WC with six to play. Still a long shot, but at least it's a shot.

Get Pedroia back for, theoretically, the last four. That should help a little. We don't have the tie breaker with Hawk so, really, we're 4 back. Two ahead of Keyz and three Stoney.

DT and AT are playing for the HF advantage still with AT 2 up.

I'm going to need help from Big A and Zim and maybe AT and Stoney, but bottom line.... we have to win at least five and maybe all six remaining.

Swept by AT last night so I'm out of the race. Playing for pride against Smokey tonight.

Stoney, know the feeling lost a couple of close ones to Big A tonight for a sweep and we're toast. Had a chance if we win two, but on top of that, we lost Uggla AND pedroia (again) for the rest of the season. Pedtoia was in his first game back after an 8 gamer. STruck out to end the game and an injury. Nice. <sigh> Not meant to be. I think he missed like 40 of the last 50 or some such. We would have had a chance too as Hawk as stubled down the stretch, we just lost players and games.

Down three players for the final series.

Oh well.

Looks like everything is pretty much decided going into the last night of play ... except maybe homefield adv ...

Btw JTJ could you check the records but I think this is my best W/L in NLD ever ...

Congrats to the playoff teams!

Hawk
D-T
AT
Smoke

Well done guys, and good luck going for the gold. 8-)

I was hoping to get to .500 with this crap team, but alas my late 'run' fell short. Definitely my worst NLD team for quite awhile.

And Joe, commiserations on another season falling short of ratings expectations. I feel free you bro. :(

See you all in NLD 29.

Well I've advanced to the finals - my first free credit in a while lol - but the other series looks like it might go all the way to 7 games.

(a belated) Congrats and GL to the playoff teams. I was out of town Thurs and Fri and very busy since.

Yeah Big A, you killed me down the stretch. :(

AT, yes, that's your high win total for the NLD.

Big M, I knew I had an injury risk with Pedroia (and only took him because all the other 2bs went before I could get to them) but I hoped that I would get the shorter injuries. That wasn't the case. I thought this was better than a .500 team, but 100 mil leagues every team is pretty good so.... I did expect to face more LHP that actually occurred.

The Team in review:
Best surprise: Uh, I guess Ramon Castro - 24 HRs and a .280 BA
Biggest disappointment: I guess that three of my SPs were pretty awful. Also, Torres in a platoon role gave me nothing at the plate. .314 OB v RHP. Out of my leadoff hitter. Ouch. Expected more from Zaun v RHP too.
Best bench player: Santiago hit .300 in 120 ABs.
Best crappy pitcher: Narveson. Actually did decent v RHB.
Worst bench player: Prolly Maier, I expected more than a .199 BA.

My Team in review:
Best surprise: Vic Mart. 1064 OPS
Biggest disappointment: tie between Chris Young- batting .196, Brandon Phillips (sub 600 ops). and Tulo 787 ops- I guess that sounds greedy but I was hoping for 900 ops in a hitter's park
Out of my leadoff hitter. Ouch. Expected more from Zaun v RHP too.
Best bench player: I have everyone in a platoon so I didn't really have a bench.
Best crappy pitcher: They all sucked for me.
Worst bench player: I have everyone in a platoon so I didn't really have a bench.
