How did this happen?

*** TOP OF INNING 6 ***
0 E.Delahanty 2-10 Walk b-1 F9
0 1 G.Sisler 4-3 Fly Out (RF) 1-3 b-0 fly(RF)x F9
1 3 F.Frisch 4-5 Sac Fly (LF) 3-H b-0 F9
2 J.Mauer 4-7 Ground Out (SS) b-0 F9
*** BOTTOM OF INNING 6 ***

How did Delahanty advance from 1st to 3rd on Sislers fly to RF?

Paul Waner is my RF, so it isn't because he sucks.

There is a rare play from the x-chart that is something about the OF crashing into the wall and being stunned, if I remember right (threw out my board game a long time ago). Somebody with the board game might confirm.

With Waner's 1 range you have to draw a split card of 1 to get an F1 result on the X-chart. Then you have to draw a split card of 5 (checking for an error) to get the Rare Play.

"The outfielder races back to the wall and makes a diving catch, but ends up colliding with the wall! He holds onto the ball but is dazed. All baserunners tag-up and advance two bases before the outfielder recovers enough to throw the ball back into the infield."

Split cards 2-13 give an F2. A 5 in checking for an error gives a catch and the runner on third out on appeal.

Split cards 14-20 (1 range only) are F3. The 5 on the error draw nets a running catch in the gap and the lead runner thrown out trying to get back to his base.

Minor procedural point, the 5 is the sum of three dice, so the chances of it occurring are 1 in 36 once the proper split card comes up. With the 1 in 20 chance of a split-card 1, that means it is 719 to 1 against this happening.

and why do we think a momentum feature in this game is so far fetched.

Okay, I just remembered, every 719 flyballs in big league play result in a 2 base advance, duh

Just last week, the Brewers did this 3 times.
