There is really no way to prepare for a live draft besides knowing the players in the player pool. You need to go in with a basic game plan. Your first 2 to 3 picks should focus on the top hitters. At some point in the early rounds, there will be a run on SP. Consider drafting 1 to 2 SP during the run, so you don.t get shut out. After that, you will need to improvise on the fly. The draft queue is extremely helpful. Before the draft starts, I like to put all my players I am targeting in the queue. There are filters above the player window, so you can sort by position or stats during the draft.
Be prepared to draft alternative players. A lot of times you will have targeted a player, only to lose him to the guy drafting just before you. Consider wheter you want to draft the best available player or a player you need to fill a position. Keep in mind there are still roster requirements when doing a live draft. In my experience I have found thereis less trading in live leagues. Also, know there is no cap in a live draft on the Tsn site. The diamond dope website also has live draft capability with cap options thanks to Adrian. However, you would need to co-ordinate with all the other owners in your league if you chose to use this. with that being said, I have always enjoyed live drafts.
Your league will probably fill. Most likely with the top owners...
Good luck.
