Cheaper player card during waivers

Cheaper player card during waivers

Postby Munich_Man » Wed Sep 07, 2011 2:06 am

Is there any way to switch player cards during the waivers process? I have the expensive Kiner and want to use the cheaper Kiner. I can't claim the cheaper Kiner, because he doesn't show up, and I can't switch cards, because waivers are not over. That's 4 million I can't use which is preventing me from making some waivers claims.

I would at least like to be able to claim the cheaper Kiner off waivers for the expensive one which would free up $$$ for other waivers transactions. As it is, I'm stuck and risk losing out on players I want/need.

Any ideas?

I think you're stuck until wavers is done

I wonder if you could pull this off in 2 waiver transactions.
Transaction pick up Batman dropping Ralph Kiner.
Transaction 2 pick up Kiner dropping Whomever.

moral to the story - ALWAYS put the cheapest card for a player on your draft list for AD unless that puts you below the minimum salary it will accept.

The caveat to always drafting the cheaper version is that if you miss you get a lousy consolation prize. :(

Yes, that's true, but since it doesn't go back and fill in the missed picks until the end of the draft, the guy it would have given you if you missed on the top card will always be available in waivers or frenzy.

Unless he is given to another manager who missed a player with a higher salary.

Exactly. Drafted the 3 mil Reggie once and got some guy who could not walk and chew gum at the same time as consolation. Lesson learned.

Silly question but if you wanted to use the cheap Kiner why not just draft that one to begin with?

Because I was awarded Kiner as a consolation for missing either Ruth or Bonds (Yaz was my other consolation). Post-draft, decided that Cheap Kiner would make a hell of a DH.

The extra $$ from not getting Ruth or Bonds allows me to upgrade my planned DH of Sewell to Cheap Kiner. Not having the extra Kiner $$$ kept me from getting Charleston in waivers, but someone dropped Dimaggio, so it worked out.

My OF is now Chino Smith, Dimaggio and Stearnes, with Kiner at DH.

First time with Kiner, actually, if memory serves. First time with Smith as well.
