Is it Okay to copy someones team???

Postby TRW » Mon Sep 12, 2011 2:16 pm

JMO, but there should be a draft list for stadiums. There should be a unique stadium for every team in the league.

ex...If you know there's chance you may not get Hilltop in a draft, owners may be more inclined not to draft all power righty bats. Not getting a guaranteed stadium in a auto-draft may keeps owners more "honest".

or maybe not...

I just always hated seeing 3 Hilltops in any league I was playing in. I didn't care if the teams were copied or not. I just knew there was no way I was going to be able to trade for a big righty bat...

[quote:ea831fcc8f="nevdully's"]I've seen both teams in question...and talking from experience it's obvious that Salt's team right down to a rarely used park in 200m was copied.

Most of Macnoie points miss "what I think" Salt's asking....It's not at all whether they'll do well or not, or even if he gets them all...not about that at all...His intent was to completely copy someone's team right down to the park...not whether he can get them all, or play them well....So is copying cool with you guys?

Funny thing is while I talked to Salt and the community about this in the past, most including Salt suggesting I should relax and not worry about it...Consider that "perhaps" once it happens to you, you might be surprised by how the "relax" answer, is a easier said than done ;)[/quote:ea831fcc8f]

Nev, with all due respect...you know I love you man. But that was not my point. I didnt miss it at all. It is the idealism of someone else's perception. It is not unethical, there is no entitlement, and as they say in the south...bless your heart, but you missed the core of my point.
:D
Define what is "protected" in this transaction in a repeatable objective way, and then maybe there is discourse to be had. Otherwise, it's about feelings, and really, feelings don't matter.

However, in the great area of gray, I will make an exception. At the point it becomes harassment so as to impact the enjoyment of the other player intentionally, then it's a problem. So, if every team or every other team maybe gets copied, then you're being targeted and that is indeed unethical and not fair. Then the other person is making their $25 more entitling than yours.

But all other cases assume you've paid your $25 for some kind of entitlement to players before a draft, as if their performance and value was known a priori...that's not reasonable.

I have just as much an entitlement to a combo of players in Hilltop or League or whatever as anyone else.

For Nev--you said yourself--look at Hartnett...there are no guarantees anyway. It's a losing, boring proposition.

and I love you too...but 2 and 5 are reasons you gave based on how many, and if the guys you copied are successful...it ain't about how many or if they're successful....So I thought 2 and 5 didn't apply to Saltman's question...but I could be wrong all the way around. lol.

ok...that's fair. those reasons are based on lack of ethical dilemma due to likelihood of occurrence, and that wasnt the question asked, so I will concede those two.

I was on a roll and 5 was better than 3. :P

Sorry I already made an independent claim to have copy rights.
I said so.

If he lets you copy, then you would be copying me, and I have a protected interest since I called it first.

Did I mention that I already have patents pending on three of Nev's teams?
