That Hugh Duffy card is sick. The "Barry Bonds" of the small ball lovers, to be sure. What's not to love on his card? Other than the 10 negative points of clutch on each side, but with all those hits, who would care? I wonder if he is a 15 game injury risk? Only fly in the ointment I could imagine. Wow!

Curious questions:

Is the Duffy card good enough to warrant being the first pick in live drafts?

Will the number of # on the Marichal card cause people to shy away from him?

I was just reading up on the pitching change in 1893 with the mound being moved back to 60 ft 6 inches (from 45 or 50 feet i think). The league batting average before 1893 was .245, the year after, 1894 which is Duffys superman card the LEAGUE average was .309  . I'm not sure when, i think it was around the same year if not 1893, but to balance things out they also raised the pitcher mound and added the pitching rubber. So 1894 was the pre -1930,1987 season (2 notable slugfest non steroid infested seasons)

yep, go look at the 1894 Phillies on www.baseballreference.com 4 guys (with over 350 pa) hit above .400 and another 4 guys hit between .350 and .400

that's just ridiculous and now Duffy et al. are going to be top guys in Strato. That's not right, unless you can convince me Duffy was a top 10 all-time guy, he shouldn't have a top 10 all-time card.

Duffy knocked in over 100 runs i think in 8 straight seasons so he wasn't a one year wonder and his season wasn't a total fluke in the context of the new rules.
Look at Duffys numbers, he was on his way to a HOF career BEFORE 1893, his numbers were very good in the context of post 1893 and great for pre 1893.

Should we remove Maria's 61 hr card from the set because he wasn't a top 10! All time player? Let's take all Pedro's cards away, too, since he didn't have 300 wins. Should we remove the NeL cardss because they don't reflect performance in the "Major" leagues?

Duffy hit 4 freaking 40 with a pile of extra base hits. And it's not like he was some stumblebum.

or remove all the steroid cheaters? at least Duffy's numbers are legitimate within the rules of his day.
