I was just reading up on the pitching change in 1893 with the mound being moved back to 60 ft 6 inches (from 45 or 50 feet i think). The league batting average before 1893 was .245, the year after, 1894 which is Duffys superman card the LEAGUE average was .309 :shock: . I'm not sure when, i think it was around the same year if not 1893, but to balance things out they also raised the pitcher mound and added the pitching rubber. So 1894 was the pre -1930,1987 season (2 notable slugfest non steroid infested seasons)
