Yeah, but Fogerty can't sound too much like Fogerty, or he gets sued:

LOL- thats a great reference.

But, as you see, Fogerty won the case, just didn't get attorneys fees.

Not at all. I'm saying that if you're duplicating one of your previous teams, then you're not doing anything original either, so why are you complaining about someone else? You don't have exclusive rights to that group of players in that park.

This seems like a really simple issue to me.

Maybe read the rest of the thread? (saying this b/c you said you hadnt read most of it) I don't wanna rehash my same arguments- however if you still hold this opinion after doing so, no worries, and thanks for giving your perspective.

On your recommendation I went back and read the rest of the thread and my opinion hasn't changed. I also hear a lot of people saying pretty much what I'm saying here. There's nothing wrong with it.

Perhaps the most unethical thing the guy did is initially lie to you about copying your team, and if that's still chafing you, then I understand.

Other than that, I continue to contend that this is a non-issue. You can feel however you want about it, but the bottom line is that the guy didn't do anything wrong, and it won't work for him anyway.

some owners don't have 30,000 points racked up and 100+ championships....past results are no guarantee of future returns.....i don't think there is anything wrong with owners taking a successful formula and trying it on their own...do you think it's fun for people to consistently end up 70-92? WE're not all geeks....i'm always referencing the 'legends' of online strat for ideas.....

Nothing wrong with referencing ideas...Do you think that's the same as copying every single player down to the nickel scrub and the stadium too? I mean if you gotta copy the nickel scrub maybe there is another reason why you go 70-92.

btw don't underestimate yourself. Just because you don't have 30,000 points and over 100 Titles I'm pretty sure you're still a geek.

It's entirely possible you've swung me on this one, El. The dishonesty about it is gross, bt down to nickel scrubs?

I did copy a team once, using Dope. Then, I changed some players, because they hadn't performed to value on the original. Then, changed out the bench, as I have bench guys I like (as does everyone else... Glad no one seems to like my go to nickel catcher.) by the time I'm done, it's 60% my team by players, 30% by value. And it still lost 85 games. Live and learn.

First of all my sympathies lie with the other 9 guys in a league with EL Saltman in the East Nevdully in Central and Petrosian in the West. Is there any doubt who is going to win most of the titles and division, the only time one of those three really say Oh Crap is if Don FESQ gets in a division with them and then you got the playoffs lined up for you at the start? IF you are in these time after time, it is going to a fact that someone from the lower level is going to say, is it really the team that makes the difference or something else? There is really only one way to solve that for sure and that is to copy a team from top to bottom. This is not illegal, unethical or anything, it is the natural reaction to losing in a similar manner time after time.

Sometimes the sheep just want to know what it feels like to be a wolf.

I can copy someone's team down to the lowest priced guy, but how am I going to manage the highs and lows of the season like Saltman does?

It's impossible, plus when to change the lineup, batting order etc. How Saltman reacts to a winning streak or a losing streak can not be copied. In short, the 'in' season management is where the difference will be.

Remember the Bum Phillips quote "He can take his'n and beat yourn, and then turn around and beat his'n with yourn!! That describes a great manager I think!!
