[quote:a18bd29b8c="El-Saltman"]Would it bother anyone in any way, if I copied your post, reposted it as my thoughts and opinions and deleted your post?
How about if I retold a joke you made up and said I came up with it?
What if you told me the premise of a book you were gonna work on and I thought it was so great that I wrote a story using your idea?
NONE of these are illegal, does that mean you dont mind?
Second to answer how I know if Im the only one who used that combo:
The answer is 99.9 % sure that I am, why?
Because a fairly limited number of people have used that same stadium at that Cap Level in ATG 6.
Third:
TBH- if it was a newer player that had done it- Id be more likely to just say okay, hes trying to figure it out- everyone has to imitate somewhat before they are original- myself included.
SEE in music we have this same idea.
At some point you gotta be yourself or you are just repeating/recreating stuff...thats not an artist, thats a parrot.
Can you be original all the time, no, and we all have stuff we imitate, but at least give it a shot.[/quote:a18bd29b8c]
El-Saltman - I realize you are heavily into music and copying that is a protected idea that you can sue on. Are you claiming that your idea for forming a team is similar to writing music? I find that claim not protected intellectual property not reasonable.
People retell my jokes all the time without giving me credit believe you me, because at my job I am telling jokes all the time and people tell me about funny things they hear at meetings that I created. It does not bother me in the least, helps me determine what people really find humorous. And the idea that jokes are in a protected category of needing attribution laughable on it's own. (an unintentionally funny line I think, who gives attribution when telling a joke, other than there was this joke I heard?)
If you stole my idea for a book and I can prove it in court I can sue you if I can show definitively that I created the idea and you heard the details of it and you would owe me all the profits of the book upon a loss in court. While not illegal as you state it is protected intelectual property.
Are you stating you have created intellectual property on this site? If that is the case is DON FESQ drafting Josh Gibbons first also an intellectual property in a 200 million dollar league because he first recognizes it's value or is that one case ok to steal because it is limited intellectual property. Once you start down the protected route I see no good limits that is why I am not concerned at all.
The whole purpose of Diamond dope is to steal the combined ideas of the community and identify the best ideas, is that stealing others ideas? I cannot see how that is so. Can I block Adrian from using my singular intellectual property? Actual I would hope maybe some of the better players could get their teams blocked so the better values would be even more apparent.
What if I am researching teams on Diamond Dope and see a rare park in a 80 million dollar league and I click on it in Diamond Dope and the team won 70% of its game and there it is a complete list of 1 team and the win percent and all the players used. Is it therefore wrong to use those 24 players? What if there were 6 teams (unknown to me but from the same player with only 6 or 7 different players? Is it then an illegal theft of an idea if I take 24 players that also happen to be on one team, or is it ok if I only take the 12-15 main players. The more rare a park is, the more likely this is to happen using Diamond Dope as a research tool. I sort parks down by win percent and Voila! there is a team for me to play that has shown it could win with a limited amount of effort on my part. Not what I like to do but I can see that happening.
All of these possibilities lead me to the conclusion it is not worth the pain of worrying what other players are going to copy, I will concentrate on what the other 23 or 11 managers are doing in my league now and what I can do to improve my team.
