Babe Ruth batting leadoff... opens game with a bunt... double to CF... leading to 6 run inning...

The lack of reality on multiple levels is

That's a good one. I wish SOM would air in public what goes on when you try to bunt for a base hit in the computer game.

C'mon you act like you've never seen a bunt double to CF before...

Bunt Doubles

A couple weeks ago Rafael Furcal pushed a bunt over the head of Edwin Encarnacion for a double. The bunt double is a rare occurrence, but not as rare as I would have thought. Since [b:b8da6bc9e4]1988 there have been 17 bunt doubles,[/b:b8da6bc9e4] including[b:b8da6bc9e4] 3 by Furcal.[/b:b8da6bc9e4] I have compiled a list of these oddities by using the batting splits pages along with the Team Batting Event Finder.

overwhelmingly fast guys who push the bunt double.

In Ruth's case though, consider that the defense pulls a shift, and he pushes the bunt straight up the middle, on the third base side, with a third baseman essentially playing shortstop. bad positioning and a seeing eye bunt lead to the double.

There was probably an error on the play but the home town scorekeeper scored it a hit.
