How to MAke Trades Work

How to MAke Trades Work

Postby andycummings65 » Thu Sep 22, 2011 11:14 am

I just spent 30 minutes trying to offer a trade of Rogers Hornsby for Mickey Mantle. It was like trying to do a Rubik's cube if you [b:e83ed5e835]werent [/b:e83ed5e835]a 1970s math nerd. Trying to find two other players to add to the trade to make the $$ work out was very frustrating.

"This trade would leave you .01 over the cap. Go look under your couch cushions or try again."

"This trade would place the opposing manager in a higher tax bracket. Please refer this trade offer to a CPA."

[b:e83ed5e835]The money simply makes trades almost IMPOSSIBLE, especially once the season has started.[/b:e83ed5e835]

However, if I there was a trade application that allowed me to select to drop Wilcy Moore and pick up Ralph Glaze IF the trade offer is accepted, then the money would work, and there be more trades and more IN-SEASON excitement.

I've mentioned this before, but let's get behind this and make in-season trading at least a possiblity. This is change we can believe in

Sounds good Andy. OR some option where you need to settle up the money/roster requirements by the end of the day (10 p.m.?) OR the trade is null and void, and it defaults back to pre-trade. . . or something like that.

I have found, shockingly, that managers are VERY reluctant to trade. Often a league will have none, or one trade all season. Nobody wants to trade someone who comes back to bite him in the ***, I guess.

I think you should be able to trade cash (up to a limit, say 100K).. so if you have the perfect trade, but it would put you 10K over the cap.. (assume the other team has some budget left), they can accept the trade and send you 10K + the player(s) you wanted in the trade..

I think this flexibility would help make trades a bigger part of the game, and as long as their are tight budget constraints I do not believe it would have an adverse impact on the competition...
