ATG Card Wish Lists

Postby nels52 » Sun Sep 18, 2011 2:09 pm

While all the guys mentioned would certaintly be great, we need more usable cards at weak positions like SS and 3B. Two guys that fit this bill perfectly are:

Omar Vizquel SS: Switch-hitter, soon-to-be hall of famer and the greatest defensive SS ever (even if you disagree, you know he was pretty damn good) I don't want his monster year where he hit like .330 but just a humble Omar year that would be priced around 2-3 mllion. If we were to get a card like this (he's got dozens of 'em) it would be used in practically EVERY league.

Scott Rolen 3B: One of the best players of this generation until injuries caught up with him. He had some super years that would play great in this format and he was a 1 for most of them.

^^^^totally on board with that getting some good cheaper cards.

Would love Vizquel. I still remember trying to convince my grandfather (who was a big Felix Fermin fan) that he would love Vizquel. he came around.

1957 Ted Williams

and, just for novelty's sake:
Ted Williams...1953 Boston Red Sox
AB 91 BA .407 HR 13 OBA .509 SLG .901 OPS 1.410
This was Ted returning from service in the Korean War toward the end of the year. His 1.410 OPS is the second-highest ever recorded by any player with 100 or more plate appearances, second only big-head Bonds in 2004. And doesnt Ted deserve more for injecting ordnance into North Korean targets thn Barry does for injecting his butt?

[quote:531c1e45c2="Petrosian"]Just a few I would like:

[b:531c1e45c2]Wilbur Wood[/b:531c1e45c2] '71 (Nev has also asked for this one)
[b:531c1e45c2]Lefty O'Doul [/b:531c1e45c2] '29, '30, '32. .349 lifetime BA.
[b:531c1e45c2]Rabbit Maranville[/b:531c1e45c2] - check out the MVP voting for his career. He hit .246 and .247 his first two seasons, and came in 2nd and 3rd in the MVP voting those years. Then for the next 10 years there was no MVP award. But later in his career, age 37-41 he again is in the top 17 every year except one. In his last season, at age 41 he hits .218 and is still 12th in the MVP voting. Clearly this guy was one hell of SS. Now Strat doesn't deal well with guys way beyond the curve, in this case defense. So I would like a Maranville card from one of his best offensive years, just so the guy is usable in ATG. 1922 would work because he is also indestructible that year. Assuming that Strat rates him as a 1.
[b:531c1e45c2]McNally[/b:531c1e45c2] '68
[b:531c1e45c2]Saberhagen [/b:531c1e45c2]'89
[b:531c1e45c2]Tori Hunter[/b:531c1e45c2]
[b:531c1e45c2]Soriano[/b:531c1e45c2]
[b:531c1e45c2]Andruw Jones[/b:531c1e45c2]
[b:531c1e45c2]Rollins[/b:531c1e45c2]
[b:531c1e45c2]Hanley Rameriz[/b:531c1e45c2]
[b:531c1e45c2]Irish Meusel[/b:531c1e45c2][/quote:531c1e45c2]

In 1922 Maranville is a 1e36 on D (CD rom specs anyway)

Two players that had truly significant impacts on their teams for at least one season and would beef up one of the weaker franchises:

1) The Padres' Ken Caminiti's 1996 MVP season.

2) The Padres' Mar Davis' 1989 Cy Young season as a relief pitcher.

Thats funny.

I have to admit I was one of the fools who did not like that trade when they made it. I always thought Fermin was a very underrated player. He always seemed to come up with clutch hits late in close games.

It didn't take me long to be happy I wasn't Indians GM.
