Looking for people to play newest 12-team Keeper League

AZ didn't need the voodoo treatment after all. That's a relief.

We're half way there!

I'm deciding to pass on the league. I'm not a big fan of the decreased size of the roster, nor the increased mandatory roster cuts. Good luck with new league.

Jerlins, don't go yet

I see what you're saying, Jerlin. You want the opportunity to excel through the draft and have it mean something for future years. That's what a deeper roster lends you. I think blackjack is concerned about keeping the league-wide interest high by having a more overall competitive league wherein everyone has a legitimate chance at winning a playoff berth each season.

Personally, I prefer Jerlin's mode of drafting but due to my lack of experience in these Keeper leagues I feel it necessary to defer to blackjack and his experience. I can only guess there must be a problem in these leagues with apathy or loss of interest from one season to the next with the 40-man roster format. I don't know though. Just guessing.

I'm perfectly willing to go back to the original 40-man rosters. The only reason that didn't sound so appealing to me was the fact that certain drafters can delay a draft terribly by not picking within their assigned time slot. In the DD draft site that can create lots of wasted time and apathy throughout the league.

Anyhow, if we can get into a better draft site (Strat-draft perhaps) where the whole league isn't penalized for one or two late drafters then I'm definitely fine with a 40-man or larger roster size.

It's your call, I can live with 40 man rosters. I don't think that 36-24 is that radical though; in the NTKL Turtle's rosters are 30-20. You are still keeping 24 players a year so it's not like your team will be gutted every year. Whatever the people want... 8-)

In the interest of filling the league...

And keeping things simple and familiar for future players, I would like to go with the initial listed roster sizes (40) and cuts (10-15). I'm guessing Jerlins isn't the only Keeper vet that has acclimated to that roster format and prefers it.

And it's fine if Jerlins wants to go (I hope he stays though). I still think it's a good idea to leave that area alone. Anyone else have any input on that?

Folks, I'm in 3 keeper leagues now, so don't go changing your plans because one person prefers a different format. In my original keeper league, I had to trade I. Nova because he was the 31st player I was willing to keep. Gutting it by another 6 players (more future impact players hopefully), wouldn't devastate my present roster, but it would eliminate the advantage I feel I've build up (and at a price) during my 3 years in the league.

Jerlins, if the rest of us can go either way on the roster subject, there isn't a problem in going to the 40 man. No problem at all. In fact I suspect other Keeper vets prefer the 40 man as well (because it's what they are used to)...I'm speaking to those players that have yet to join us here.

Roster sizes

Yeah it's just two different philosophies on league setup, neither one is better than the other, depends on each person's preference. I understand Jerlin's point, I just like having a little more action for follow-up seasons and less dependence on the initial draft. I'm in either way and won't bug you anymore about it.

Update to league

Postby fredpaii » Mon Sep 26, 2011 9:54 pm

blackjack and I are working fervently to make an easy to understand and fun league for you all. That means easy to understand Rules. And we might be including some options to make things a bit more interesting as well.

You'll see soon enough. I really like it so far.

I'll do it at 36 and 12 or even 35 and 10 .. just not 34 and 12
