Bernie pls read - really bad HAL baserunning

Sorry that's not even close. You are really intent on arguing this huh?

1) MIL was in the lead in the 8th inning, in a game that was nearly meaningless for them. Yes, there is still playoff seeding up in the air, but they're in the playoffs, so to say "playoff implications" is a big stretch.

2) There is a huge difference between a runner being "caught napping" i.e. picked off, vs. a strategic decision by a baserunning coach to send a runner. The "caught napping" stuff is random, and even though it's less likely to happen in key situations vs. low pressure, it's understandable. And the base coach has little control over it. Having HAL intentionally do something that no sane 3B coach would ever do, and which I have never seen happen, is not understandable nor acceptable.

Again, not saying stupid stuff doesn't happen - it does. Just not in this instance and not deliberately. Let's take the "deliberate" part out of it by fixing HAL.

Just to amplify on that - the intent of the post is to try to fix a [b:d89fe45afb][i:d89fe45afb]game flaw[/i:d89fe45afb][/b:d89fe45afb] in HAL. HAL believes in this case it was ok to send the runner. It's not. It is unrealistic to the game situation and should be fixed, period.

If you want to add a random event to SOM "runner blows through stop sign with game on line for no reason", fine, but that is a different [b:d89fe45afb][i:d89fe45afb]game event[/b:d89fe45afb] [/i:d89fe45afb]from what I brought up. HAL sent the runner when he had no reason to, end of story.

Well, not much of an argument since I conceded your primary point that I wouldn't have sent the runner in the case provided. ;)

But, does your example rise to the level that this is a large enough problem to say that this is a fatal "game flaw" that "must be fixed". I'd say no. There are more pressing fixes and enhancements that I would like to see. It would be nice, however. I think mostly people were trying to soften the blow of losing that game saying, basically, that this sort of stuff happens much more often than you might imagine. The game in question is a loss about 98% of the time whether or not HAL sends the runner.

I think silver has a point. This is not something however that should just be fixed in the online game. This is a flaw that exists in the cdrom game code that is passed to TSN. It should be addressed there. More to my real point there should be someone from stratomatic game company on these boards for these type things to be taken to.
