[quote:269c07a7e8="mbertolli"]Id love to see Lawrie get a 1 but I just cant see that happening. My guess is that he gets a 3.

Although he's improved a lot the last few weeks, I bet Thames gets a 5 (+2)[/quote:269c07a7e8]

I thought about giving Thames a 5, but thought he improved enough. Watching Lawrie play I think he should get a 1, he was amazing at times, at the very least a 2.

Kyle Blanks fell somewhere between Guzman and Rizzo, so I guess a 3. But he mostly played LF. Gossip here in SD suggests he may be odd man out on the 1B/LF musical chairs of Guzman/Rizzo/Blanks, though....Which to me is crazy, because Rizzo looked badly overmatched in MLB last year. He's got one of those H U G E golf swings and wiffs a ton. But Blanks is fragile.

To my eyes, Guzman is the keeper -- the guy's a professional hitter. Has several different swings, depending on the pitcher and the count, is killer in the clutch. He led the Padres in RBI, and only played the season's second half. He's probably better suited as a DH in the AL, but for the money the Padres are paying him, they'd be crazy to let him go.
