As for spenders, Cubs, Dodgers, Mets, Orioles...them are some expensive wins...not that there are many of them.
I think it's funny that fan support $ (tix, merchandise, media) is discounted. Why do we support? Because they are successful and the management commits to keeping it that way by investing our dollars. Big market isnt the driver--plenty of big markets fail. Some small ones do very well, but they do typically have to be smarter on smaller margins.
Why would a fan complain about other owners when they should be asking their own: so what did YOU do with the luxury tax the Yankees put into the team's coffers? Pocket it? Usually, yes, they did.
And regardless of the whining, the facts are the Yankees have had a well developed farm system and balance with veterans since the Stick (Gene Michael) had taken the reins on development--but we're headed back into the Danny Tartabull/Ed Whitson era if we're not careful (i.e. R Soriano). But then again, we did get the Cubbies to buy Alfonso Soriano...
