60 Midway-Normalization Kicks In? YES!

Personally I want this game to be as transparent as possible.

Let the cards be the cards or change every damn roll 2 or 3 times on the way to the final result. Doesn't matter much to me as long as it's[b:7a243488e3] Clearly[/b:7a243488e3] spelled out [b:7a243488e3]"On This Site". [/b:7a243488e3] And Please show the changed rolls so we can have a clue how often this happens. I don't wanna pay for a magic show...Is this too much for a paying customer to ask for?

[quote:afdbd76a90]The normalization that I uncovered happened at a certain point in the season, where the system essentially was programmed to say - from this point on, turn rolls x, y, and z from HRs to other hits, and from other hits to out. That normalization occurred not only for HRs, but averages as well. It was programmed that over the course of the season, the player would not significantly exceed his card (prorated out to 162 games). [/quote:afdbd76a90]It is very important to note that this was only being done to homeruns by players who were on pace after a certain point to hit 61+ HR, or to hits by players who were on pace after a certain point to hit .400+. As such, it was only occurring in an extremely small percentage of player-seasons. (The -- very misguided -- theory was that it was simulating the "pressure of the record chase.") And naturally, it didn't apply to teams.

The theory currently being proffered would be far more wide-ranging, as the normalization is apparently being done on every stat by every player or team in every league that doesn't sound right to nevdully.

Funny, many think similar to me and post such, but some people seem drawn to mention only me.

But Dean is probably right after all he's never been wrong before.

Let's see the game does have (on or off)

HR normalization as Prof Dean mentions
Weather effects
here's a good one....out re-distribution
Fatigue
Irom man Catcher
Bullet-proof players regardless of an injury on their card....Oh that's one that both Dean and Bernie have wrong...these bullet-proof players Never ever get hurt....Not even for the remainder of the game....Never Ever.
Fielders crashing into the wall giving up two bases on the sac fly.
Trips to Dubs...sometimes outs...is this Tuesday are we in Belgium?
Bunts for Doubles.
HR saving catches.
Both positive and negative hitter clutch (which we can see)
Both positive and negative pitcher clutch (which is top secret)
Forced injuries.
A fav of mine the Pitch Around feature....
But the best one might be forcing an sp from a complete game (10-1 two outs in the 9th he might get pulled) Bernie was befuddled when he uncovered that one...and said "it wasn't working properly anyway"

Many, many more...too many to list..Oh you'll find a list somewhere but that's not complete either....

Everything...For better or worse they've thought and covered everything....Everything....but not something as common in this game as the grass on the field "momentum". I, and apparently regardless of who agrees with me, it's only I that gets singled out, must be way out playing in left field to believe that something like that is in here.

I understand "normalization" to mean that the odds change based on the season results to date.

If I'm correct that that's what it means, then none of your examples are relevant.

Dean, how about a "momentum" feature?

I'm confused. Wouldn't "momentum" mean that if you overperformed in the first half, you would "get hot" and thus overperform in the second half too? What you're usually implying is the opposite of "momentum".

Anyway, the only person who is in a position to know and is talking says that the odds don't change based on previous results, either "season-to-date" or recent. You should actually write SOM and see what they say; I'm really serious about that.

I've heard so much incorrect information in the past 8-9 years going back to Larry saying (explaining) that certain questionable HAL moves were because there's a "hunch feature" in play...Later Bernie explained Larry mighta had a moment of insanity...I just have my doubts on getting accurate answers. There is no one here any more in the know than you (I mean that) and even you and Bernie have incorrectly stated that certain cards can only miss the remainder of the game...As I said earlier that's not the case.

Bernie while working on BP v.2 found a couple of things he had no idea were in play (and as I said one of them wasn't working correctly too)...

Bottom line I'm just not sure who really knows what...and if so would they say....I think the last thing anyone tied to the success of the game would say is..."listen you pay your money and build this great team, but we've got all kind of black box stuff that makes you looking at the cards all but useless."

Actually more accurately regardless of Winning or Losing.... I don't think they'll admit how far from roll the dice, read the card, this game really is....The cards are it's religion...Transparency what they hang their hat on...And this game is far from both

I think there are multiple topics being thrown around, and some others may be implied in some posts as well.

Among those I think have been mentioned/implied:

- Normalization... an artificial leveling/evening out on individual stats that are (typically) on pace to be outrageously higher than expected (or alternatively I guess on pace to be ridiculously lower than expected.

- Diffiulty understanding why (or why not) player performance comes close to their actuals stats for the year carded... debate on why hitters frequently perform either to/beyond their real life stats while pitchers specifically can almost never... across any cap

- Momentum feature, whereby teams seem to "turn on" or "turn off" like a proverbial switch... relative to season to date performance. This is where a 42-16 team is virtually guaranteed to see long losing streaks and quite possibly not even make 100 wins... or on the other side where a team in 2nd or 3rd place hovering below .500 streaks out to an 8 or 9 game win streak.

- desire to have greater transparency in the game engine, various individual and team settings, control features and how mechanically they are implemented, fatigue interworkings, etc., etc... plus several other things Nev just mentioned above)

In addition to those mentioned, I feel at times like there are certain players that the Stratomatic (not TSN but Strat) programmers like more than others, a type of hidden performance booster and diminisher for certain players. I recall Ozzie Smith's cards of the early/mid 1990's where (a) the cards put out seemed too good for his real life performance, and (b) the computer game always seemed to over-perform even to the over-adjusted card.

There has to be SOMETHING as to why players with almost the same exact mathematical equivalent cards perform so differently. I am not sure if it is a mis-seeded random number generator... e.g. that somehow over the long run there are more 2-5's than expected and less 3-7's for example.

Anyway long post but thought I'd just ramble a bit
